Its called metacognition, dearie. To ability to think about what we're thinking. There's nothing wrong with us, if you dont count the radical atheists, agnostics and atheists are far more moral and forgiving than people like you who so ferociously defend a god who doesn't need your defense.

Different atheists have different reasons. Most often it's because they've found that the notion of deity simply doesn't work for them.
Personally, I'm an atheist because to me, the notion of deity sounds waaaay too likely a made-up thing; a projection of the human ego. So I'd just be worshipping a human by proxy. Besides, I find enough mystery, answers, pleasure, and challenges in life without introducting the notion of some spying invisible man.

We gain our ideas from life experience just like everyone else.
To what specifically are you referring? Lack of belief in any gods? I am sure that answer has been given here more times than prayer requests. In other words, a lot :) I'm too lazy to type it all out again.

I think the way that I do because it is how my brain works. Some combination of nature and nurture made my brain work this way.
If you want a better answer, you'll have to be more specific about a particular thought that we all apparently think :-D.

As previously said, Intelligence. The ability to think for ones self, control ones own actions, decision's etc. Does one reason with a history of violence, hypocrisy, mendacity, the inaccuracy of religion's blind faith, or can you decide for yourself what is right and wrong...

Because we permit ourselves to do so.
Religions, on the other hand, discourage their adherents from thinking at all - sometimes quite explicitly - "But of the tree of the knowledge of good and evil, thou shalt not eat of it, for in the day that thou eatest thereof thou shalt surely die."

actually why are there so many athiests in a religious spiritual question room? I origionally came here to answer bible questions from my brothers and sisters and found som many no believers. its ironic that they are here rather than in a folklore and myth question room. why do they waste their time? they can't make us believe otherwise, and we know we cannot make them accept the truth yet they are here. why can we just get along and accept eachother rather than have a holy war?

because it's clearly the most logical thing to think. Why do religious people think the way they do? They're scared, they don't get certain science, and they're way too emotional.
