Severe hopelessness, despair, depression, sadness. I'm not a specialist so please be careful about these symptoms because a lot of people have them and don't become suicidal. It depends on the person. We're all different. A Psychologist or Psychiatrist can give you the best answer or go to the Library and read on the subject and see what you can find.

These can be different. Often times a person will appear happier to everyone on the outside than they have been in quite sometime (because their mind is made up) but that is not always the case. They will be getting their affairs in order and giving important things away such as things that mean a lot or pets that need to be looked after. If they are working some quit their jobs. There is not one answer for this as all people act and react differently. Unfortunately, I have had too many friends attempt or succeed and one just never knows. It is very, very sad.

Right on has some points...I would like to add that they may act normal.
Committing suicide is a private act and if someone is truly serious, they may not choose to show it.
If someone you know and are close too is concerning you, watch for withdrawl or perhaps giving away possessions....
Suicide is a planned activity...so it is not necessarily predictable.
Perhaps the best plan is to ask. If you care, sincerely tell them that you sense something is wrong...ask them what. If there is no answer or an unsuitable one...ask if they are depressed and perhaps considering killing themselves. Suicide is a harsh word. Consider finding the kindest way you can to bring up the subject.
Suicide can be prevented. Caring enough is the first step.

there are a ton of typical symptoms that people will tell you but the truth is there are no real ones. Each person is different. Such as me I showed no signs off even being depressed before I tried.

Stop talking about it or threatening to. Withdraw from people and become quiet. Then do it or attempt it.
