find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

For healthy weight loss you need a balanced system of healthy meals, nutrition, and exercise. Also a weight loss log with weight, measurements, and goals is a good idea that will help you stay on your diet. Eat three meals a day with protein snacks in between. Replace two meals with protein shakes. As a general rule; none of your snacks or meals should have more than 10 grams of sugar and 5 grams of fat. Also, depending on the person, approximately 80 grams of protein may be needed to maintain muscle mass and metabolize fat. It is also a good idea to take a good multivitamin.

I'd really suggest trying to join a YMCA. They offer many programs for families looking to get healthy. Getting exercise can be more then just about joining a gym. Playing sports and having fun with your family is a good way to actually keep up the exercise without it even feeling like your "working out."

The best and only permanent method of weight loss is to eat less and exercise more. It's really no harder than that. Not that it isn't hard to change your eating habits. Just try to eat a little less of whatever you eat. That way you don't have to give up your favorites. But you have to exercise--like walking--for 30 minutes 5-6 times a week.

Eating right is a big start. Try and get rid of the junk and fast foods. Try eating fruits and nuts in place of snacks. Don't deprive yourself, every now and then treat yourself, but in moderation. Then start exercising. Get out and take a walk. Go to the mall and walk around. I had the same problem, but I started doing these things and I saw a big difference and felt it too.
