What are the differences between RCIA and CCD (besides that RCIA is for older people are CCD is for kids)? This is obviously a catholic question, so if you are not familiar with the religion please do not answer.

I am already catholic but my parents did not put me in CCD. I believe that CCD is only for children up to grade 8? I'm not converting, so I don't think I have to take RCIA (by the way I'm 13 years old in grade 8). But If I am too old for CCD, then what will I take?

The Rite of Christian Initiation of Adults is a religious instruction program for people who are converting to Catholicism. (There is a less well known RCIC program for children who are converting.) There are two types of converts, unbaptized "catechumens" and already baptized Christians who are "candidates for full initiation". Often they end up in the same classes because of limited parish resources, but they are somewhat different tracks.

Religious Education (or the old term, Confraternity of Christian Doctrine) is ongoing instruction for children (and adults) who are already Catholics. The most comprehensive curricula are usually designed for elementary grades and junior high school, but most parishes have senior high and there are periodic adult-interest serieses offered as well.

You didn't mention what your situation is. If you are preparing for the reception of a sacrament, such as Confirmation, you would likely join the Confimation preparation class. If its more of a returning Catholic situation, you would probably join RCIA or RCIC in preparation for full initiation (Confirmation, Communion), although as you are already a Catholic, that's not technically where you belong. You probably need to talk it over with the RE director.
