You asked how do we fight depression? I am sorry for anyone that has to go through depression. I believe that the first thing is to admit that you do have a problem as you have done. I would suggest that you see a therapist to talk with. If you donot know of one call the hospital directory. If you are feeling that you cannot wait to have an appointment, then call a crisis hotline or call911. Your therapist may think that you would benefit from taking medication then you would conference with a phychiatrist. he would discuss your problem with you. He also would discuss your feelings with the therapist. This would be with your legal permission. Remember that some medications may take 2-4 weeks to kick in. Stay in touch with the therapist. If money is an issue, there are free clinics and drug companies will give the drugs freely to the doctor and the doctor would give you the drugs that he prescribed. It is difficult to manage life in the real world. You have to force yourself to do something that makes you feel better about yourself. Try small things, so that you will not become overwhelmed. Depression does not go away over night so try to work at it.Take care of yourself- only then will you be able to help others such as friends and family.

It depends on what you think of as depression. If you're feeling a little blue, then get with friends and have fun or go shopping, do something you really enjoy doing and see if that helps. But if you mean feeling hopeless or that life is too stressing for you to handle then you need to seek professional help. Sometimes depression is a chemical thing and you may need medication or therapy to get past a major hurdle but don't even hesitate to get help, there's nothing shameful in being ill and that is what clinical depression is, no different from needing an operation or treatment for any other illness. So don't struggle on your own when help is an appointment away. Best of luck to you!

If your depressed about something like failing in a test or some fight with a friend or a girl/guy then all you have to do is move past the incident and not think about it.You should know that bad things happen to all of us most of the time so don't fret about it you'll be fine.In fact, in a couple of days you'll think back and laugh at yourself.
In the meantime do a lot of exercise, eat fruits and hang out with people your most comfortable with.Good music and Hot chocolate fudge always works.

Get help. Don't be ashamed of needing medication, and don't give up until you find something that helps. And see a therapist.
Identify your feelings and moods. Depression is a self-destructive effort to avoid feeling. Accept that emotions are natural and helpful. Learn that mood changes don't come "out of the blue" — they are always started by an event, a memory, a dream. Use the Mood Journal to identify what starts your mood changes.
Challenge depressed thinking. People with depression remember and blame themselves for bad events, while they forget about and give others credit for good events. Their low expectations mean they often don't prepare adequately and give up too easily. Worst, they think they are essentially different — damaged somehow — from other people. These are all learned habits of thought that can be unlearned. Pay attention to your assumptions and beliefs. Good luck I hope this works

A combination of cognitive therapy and medications with will power and allowing plenty of time for change and not rushing therapy. Getting plenty of rest. Eating healthy. Exercising when possible. Having support from others whether it be family or friends and support from others that are dealing with the same type of issues perhaps in a group setting or online.

By seeking profession assistance to figure out the course of attack. If it is deep seeded due to past experiences, you need to take couseling and truly want to rid yourself of the demons. If it just basic stress and chemical imbalance talk to your Dr. It isn't something you can do overnight or alone.

I take effexor, it is a anti depression medicine that does well with regulating your adreline too. Sometimes you might need a good psycholigist. It is really hard to deal with alone sometimes. Just keep your head up.
