American Express, Chase, and Citi all tend to have decent service and have the most compelling rewards cards. (Rewards are the main reason to use credit cards instead of just paying with cash.) Capital One does not have a very good reputation.

As long as you pay your balance in full each month, you should be pursuing the rewards cards that will pay you the most to funnel your normal spending through them. That way you'll build your credit, avoid interest, and earn rewards.

The easiest way I know to find the rewards card(s) that will pay you the most for your normal spending profile is this rewards calculator:

If you don't yet have a good enough credit score for some of the best rewards credit cards, then you can work on building your credit with your Capital One card and any other decent rewards card you can get. Do that by funneling your normal spending through it and paying off your balance in full every month.

Citi® Bronze®/AAdvantage® MasterCard®is by far the most widely used card. It is essential for regular travelers with average credit. Its reward program gives you an additional mile per $2 spent on the card. You can collect up to 25,000 miles annually, and can be redeemed for flights on partner airlines, hotel accommodations throughout the world, and car rentals. Additional benefits are: zero liability for unauthorized transactions, travel accident insurance and various Internet account associated services. The card does not charge any annual fee. But the drawback is the minimum APR cap for cash advances, set at 19.99%.

No credit card is the best card.

pay cash and only spend the money you have in your pocket.

Best is: Open a savings account and save every month a little amount.
