That is called "Intelligent Design" and it's a religious cop out developed because most sane people now have to admit that evolution did/is occurring and that the bible is not a history book. So, they fell back on the idea that God created evolution. How convenient, except it's nowhere in the bible.

Evolution could have happened in seven days, theoretically. (Taking into account all the other miracles that happen in the Bible, this one isn't so far-fetched). I think that may be what C.S. Lewis was getting at with his first book. When the world was created, everything grew extremely fast. That would even explain the layers of soil in which archaeologists find artifacts & fossils, etc., because everything grew and died very quickly and piled up. Evolution, but in high speed. The idea of it is interesting.

I don't believe in god, but I think your statement is a step in the right direction. Were God to exist, it would make sense for evolution to be part of the process because we have changed through-out the years.

I don't think creationists and evolutionsts can reconsile that point, it goes against both sides fundamental beliefs. To change a fundamental belief... well... that takes an act of god. (ha!)

I think the root of the problem is this;

We must take responsibility for our being here and our actions if we ever hope to save our planet and humanity. As long as people rely on an outside force to blame or thank, they can explain the extinction of humanity as " God's Will". People who understand evolution, also understand the global problems that we face today, with overpopulation, global warming, and war. One of our biggest obstacles in solving these issues, is the blind faith populations who refuse to admit it, or call it a prophecy.
It's time we as a species take responsibility for our actions, and not let the Christian religion destroy the entire world!

Depends on if you consider Genesis to be a literal account (...and maybe even how literal...). If God created Adam and Eve as completely modern humans, then either evolution or Genesis is wrong. If Genesis is literal only in the sense that God created what eventually evolved into humans, then there could be room for evolution.

*EDIT*
I guess if God created Adam and Eve as completely modern humans, it's evolution that's wrong....

Did he decide to do it a millisecond after the big bang or sometime in the billion years since. And my follow-up question, if the Andromeda Galaxy is on a collision course with our Milky Way, how does he reconcile the process of creation and our earth's ultimate destiny?

Absolutely, and I whole heartedly agree with you the evolution the adaptation technique that God has instilled within all life in the Universe!

To think that all life and the Universe itself is a totally random act is not something I ascribe too, all the beauty in the Universe is so awe insipring I can only believe within my heart that it was designed to be that way.

Some may disagree with me and thats fine, respect for anothers opinion is paramount, even when it's totally different to your own.

:o)

So the Creation story in the Bible was a metaphor for Evolution?

Seems like everything in that book is either a metaphor or a mistranslation...

Becuase when you ask a evolutionist to show you a transitional form he pulls out a drawing from a coloring book on google images and shows you that. If you find a human corpse next to a monkey and call it Homo-Erected and mush a monkeys penis on a human corpse it doesnt mean there is a Homo-Erected species.

Well, I think the Bible mostly supports evolution. And I think God is the order of the universe and manifests himself in our lives through the normal natural workings of the world.

I don't think their irreconcilable at all.
