It woukls seem to me, as an ex-mormon, that I had to have a man to get to the Celestial Kingdom and to have a planet and to have children to put on another Earth, also a man to cal my new name that i got in the temple, which would lead me to believe that my salvation was up to a man and not up to me, whereas in other christians faiths, a women's salvation is soely up to the women, if you disagree with this, please state your sources as I have stated my below:
Failure to marry in an LDS temple will "damn" a person so that his eternal progression will be stopped short of godhood. The best that he can hope for then is to be an angel (see D. & C. 132:16-20; see also the pamphlet About Mormonism by Apostle Stephen L. Richards, p. 12).

I presume you've read Jessica Longaker's 1996 article on Women and Mormonism at http://www.exmormon.org/mormwomn.htm

It's an interesting perspective from an educated women on the whys and wherefores women came to their unenviable position in the church: on their backs.

Wahnotes comment does distinguish between salvation and exhaltation. They aren't necessarily the same thing.

Mormons are Christians and have self belief salvation is got here upon by way of Jesus Christ and not by way of a Mormon Church. Mormons have self belief interior a similar Christ that different christians do too.

1 Corinthians 7:27+28b Are you married? Do not seek a divorce. Are you unmarried? Do not look for a wife...But those who marry will face many troubles in this life, and I want to spare you this.

1 Corinthians 7:8 Now to the unmarried and the widows I say: IT IS GOOD FOR THEM TO STAY UNMARRIED, as I am.

Nowhere in the Bible does it urge women to keep themselves attractive or what not in order to find a husband. Paul only urges a person to marry if they "burn with passion". This means for those who can live their life with no sexual desire that would lead to lust, then they should stay unmarried. There is nothing wrong with having no interest in marriage and staying unmarried through out ones whole life!

And, marriage (although blessed by God) definitely does not have anything to do with salvation or "exaltation"!!

I believe you may have misunderstood.
Temple marriage is essential to exaltation , the word "marriage' indicated "Man and woman".

Salvation in LDS sense is " Resurrection from death", having a immortal body, which granted to all by the grace of Christ.

Exaltation is being like God, with glory and eternal life, it is award to those that is faithful in their good works.

A man cannot be exalted to the highest glory without his wife.
that is what Paul meant in the following verses.

11 Nevertheless neither is the man without the woman, neither the woman without the man, in the Lord.
12 For as the woman is of the man, even so is the man also by the woman; but all things of God.

(New Testament | 1 Corinthians 11:11 - 12)

The following indicated clearly that Man cannot be Exalted without the wife.

2 And in order to obtain the highest, a man must enter into this order of the priesthood [meaning the new and everlasting covenant of marriage];
3 And if he does not, he cannot obtain it.

(Doctrine and Covenants | Section 131:2 - 3)

One more point: being Exalted means being like God. Being a God means able to have spiritual children, now ,without the wife, how can that be done? I do not imply they pro-create like us the mortals, but it does take a man God and woman God to pro-create don't you think?

Women get salvation and exaltation the same way men do.

This is much more recent than what you quote.

<
The Lord will judge you according to the desires of your hearts when blessings are withheld in this life, and he is not going to condemn you for that which you cannot help.

UNMARRIED WOMEN JUDGED BY DESIRES. According to modern custom, it is the place of the man to take the initiative in the matter of a marriage contract. Women are, by force of such custom, kept in reserve and whether it be right or wrong for a woman to take the lead and offer a proposal of marriage, she feels, and she knows that the public would also feel, that she was acting in a forward and unbecoming manner. This is all wrong, but nevertheless it is the fact. The responsibility therefore rests upon the man.

No woman will be condemned by the Lord for refusing to accept a proposal which she feels she could not properly accept. In my judgment it is far better for our good girls to refuse an offer of marriage when they think that the companionship of the man would be disagreeable, or if he is one they do not and believe they cannot learn to love.

If in her heart the young woman accepts fully the word of the Lord, and under proper conditions would abide by the law, but refuses an offer when she fully believes that the conditions would not justify her in entering a marriage contract, which would bind her forever to one she does not love, she shall not lose her reward. The Lord will judge her by the desires of the heart, and the day will come when the blessings withheld shall be given, though it be postponed until the life to come.>>

There is a great and grand principle involved here. Just as those who do not hear the gospel in this life, but who would have received it with all their hearts had they heard it, will be given the fulness of the gospel blessings in the next world—so, too, the women of the Church who do not in this life have the privileges and blessings of a temple marriage, through no fault of their own, who would have responded if they had had an appropriate opportunity, will receive all those blessings in the world to come. We desire all you sisters to know how much we love and appreciate you. We respect you for your valiant and devoted service, and have many opportunities to observe how dedicated you are!>>

In the light of the Bible, it is level ground at the foot of the cross. Ladies dont have to go through men to get anything. They are not saved on their own merits - they are saved by appropriating the righeousness of Christ.

That's funny, I've learned in church several times that it's the other way around - the man's responsibility to get married if he wants to get into the celestial kingdom, but if a women doesn't have the opportunity to marry in the life, she can go single...makes more sense when you think about it, since it's generally the guys job to propose.

Thanks
