sit ups will make your belly look bigger since there is gona be more muscle underneath the layer of fat
the only fat burning exercise is cardio 4-6 times a week for 30-50min combined with light weight training
find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

Of course you will. Here's what you do:

1. Find a way to cut 200 calories out of your day right now.
2. Ride the bike, daily, to the tune of at least 300 calories a day. An hour should do that and then some depending on your speed.

These two things will deficit your body of 500 calories a day. 500 calories x 7 days a week = 3500 calories. That 3500 calories number is important because it's the amound of calories needed to burn 1 pound of fat. Ten weeks....Ten Pounds.... GOOD LUCK !!!
