Che is not very important.

He was a hero of commie hippies that loved Castro and thought they could bring revolution to the world.

In the end, he proved to be nothing but a murderous thug.

For the same reason people wear Charlie Manson t-shirts. He was a doctor from a rich family that got bored & decided to play revolutionary. He ended up getting killed in some miserable little village in South America by a bunch of illiterate troops. He was glorified by the young college students & liberals that thought he really symbolized rebellion & a perfect way to change the "system."

He is important to Castro and Hugo Chavez, he should have no such significance in the U.S.

I see young naive kids who think it is hip to wear a Che t-shirt. I should question them about it an see if they have the slightest clue.

Che Guevara was the brains behind the Cuban revolution! Fidel was a secondary figure. When it was over, Fidel offered Che a cabinet post for his contribution to the revolution, he declined because he was dedicated to the revolution. He left Cuba and went to central America to continue the struggle for the impoverished masses. The only reason Fidel was the figure head of the revolution, was because Che was not in it for himself. Many of those who fought the stuggle, felt Che should have been El Presidente.
