I became aware of these problems of consuming foods that are expired. In addition, there are problems related to corn based sweetners; dextrose and maltodextrim which are are found in Mountain Dew. Some people have fructose intolerance ingut/malabsorption issues such as in Celiac disease.

However, the number culprit is the high fructose corn syrup which is found in most sodas; esp Mountain Dew, and other sugary products even ice cream.

HFCS is the devil.. I have had the same issues as you stated after drinking Mtn Dew. I really think the brominated vegetable oil they put in it has something to do with it as well. I can drink a can of coke and not have those problems, only with the Mtn Dew.

Tell your friend, she'll be fine. She just have to drink a lot of water or fluids to wash her out. She can drink a lot of green tea. It's a good antioxidant.

Apparently, this brominated vegetable oil is used as an emulsifier; to increase the shelf life of Mountain Dew.

HFCS is in EVERYTHING on the market that has been processed. It does cause a lot of digestion problems; such as bloatiness. It can bloat you up until you curl in a heap of excruciating ,deadly pains as the body finds difficulty to process it.

no pop that is expired is fine for quite awhile after the date unless it is diet. My uncle works as a coke delivery guy and takes it home all the time. Just like I work for frito lay and I take home expired stuff as well.

I, disagree. The date has passed. She could be having food poisoning effects. Or, it could be psychological, due to the fact, it was passed the date. Im sure you or someone else told her not to drink it. I will tell you, if she had true food poisioning,, you would not be seeing her for awhile. She would have it coming out of both ends. I would tell her next time, she wants to ingest something expired, remind her of the Code Red situation. If she is vomiting and has diarrhea, please seek professional help to prevent dehydration. I think its a possible case of psychological if she is not having either vomiting or diarrhea. She needs to consult physician if she is unsure.
