I've heard about this in the OB context and don't know if it applies elsewhere. I have asked several of my professors about this and they don't seem to know the answer even though they taught this.

Liquid keeps your body cool, just as in a engine. so if you get dehydrated your body temp most likley would rise. no food you last a week, no water you last 3-4 days

Well I don't know for sure either but it has to be because water is hydrateing, and it's a 7 meaning neutral our blood is a 7 also, therefore if you add other liquid substances such as pop, juice, etc... they dehydrate. so in order to keep your body from dehydrateing you must add water. not acid and sugar which depletes the body from it's hydration anything below 7 is acid.

Most mammals use water (via evaporative cooling - sweating) to thermoregulate. If people become dehydrated, they don't have the water to use to maintain their normal body temperature, so it rises.
