My mother-in-law just brought me a bottle of Maker's Mark. I'm not much of a straight whisky drinker but I don't want to overwhelm the taste of the liquor with Coke or Pepsi unless that's really the best way to drink it. Neat? Rocks? Cola?

Another question: Is Maker's Mark as good as she says it is? Again, I don't have the experience to compare it to anything else.
Thanks.

Yes it is as good as she says. I love Makers, and the best way to drink it (in my opinion) is on the rocks. Coke should only be used in cheaper whiskeys such as JD and JB.

Yes, Maker's Mark is fine. I like it best over rocks. If you're not used to drinking bourbon, you might want a splash of water in with it. For god's sake, don't put cola in with it.

Preferably with your mouth. Use the same way with whatever you choose to drink it with - or neat.
