They are both purebred, male rottweilers that are both 2 1/2 years old. When they see a cat they go stiff and do nothing but growl or watch them..

But this is a wierd thing..My dogs can live with my 5 persian cats that they grew up with but when we brought home 4 kittens they managed to get in the back door and attack 1 of the kittens that was on the kitchen floor.

the other time was when my cat was on our side yard, my dogs got over there and ummm tore of her head,,,,,...........

They just dont do well with cats they never grew up with....

BTW, can a dog bite if they have a muzzle on?

If your dogs have already killed 2 cats, they will never be trustworthy around cats. Training may make it possible to have the dogs and cats in the house together when you are watching closely...maybe.
You don't mention the breed of your dogs. If they are a breed or mix of breeds with high prey drive like terriers, most working breeds, pit bulls, sighthounds, it is normal for them to go after cats. You need to be sure these dogs are never allowed loose. If your dogs kill a neighbors cat and they find out, you could find yourself in lots of trouble.

I have raised rottweilers for 8 years, and I have yet to have a dog that like cats. My dogs were very behaved, and would not usually run if I told them to stay, but if a cat passed by they forgot all about me. I am sad to say that they had killed there fair share of cats.
For some reason the neighborhood cats want to commit suicide and would wonder into my back yard. With 3 adult rottweilers death was almost guaranteed. I tried to get them to "grow out of it" but it was in the nature. Once a dog hates a cat he will always hat cats, and even if he is OK with them for a minute eventually he will revert back to his old ways and kill the kitty. Please keep them separate.

Also watch how they are with each other. Allot of times (especially if they are not nurtured/spaded) dogs will become aggressive, even to other dogs they have grown up with their whole life. It is hard to have 2 females or 2 males. some one always wants to be the dominate one, if the other dog objects then there is a problem.

good luck

Either get a professional to come and re-associate for you, or rehome either the dogs or the cats. I'd rehome the dogs since they've already killed living beings and there is never a good enough excuse for that, the dogs are dangerous. They'd most likely kill anything they didn't grow up with, their hunter instinct is running high which puts small kids in a lot of danger.
There is no aww poor dogs on this count, that just enables their terrible behaviour. It's worth trying a profesional though.

How did your dogs kill two cats? Those animals should not be allowed off a leash or beyond your own fenced yard if that is how they behave.

If they never have been socialized with cats, have killed them, I highly doubt they will ever be candidates to be around cats. You need to understand that so some poor cat will not fall victim to those murdering dogs again. It turns my stomach.

your vet can recommend someone in your area however they may also tell you that even after the dogs are retrained you should not leave the dogs and the cats home alone or in rooms alone together, sorry, it can only help so much to retrain them...you may never be able to fully trust them with cats

well as horrible as this ey seem you must pop you dog on the nose every time he tries to hurt the cat/s or growl at them/it
and once it notices in order to stop having a nose ache he must get along with the cat, everything will turn out fine

{when you pop the dog,PLEASE pop him gentley}

If they have killed cats before, it is unlikely they will see them as anything but a prey animal.

don't let they near the cats or they will most likely kill them too.
