Today,or we're just hearing about the sickos more than we used to hear about them?

My daughter was a victim of one,and no,they can't be rehabilitated. Even murderers can be rehabiliated,not pedophiles,they need to be castrated,and let bleed to death,a slow,painful death. Their victims have to live with this forever,they shouldn't be allowed to breath our air.

Once you become a parent...you worry about these freaks all the time.
Sadly...our children are the prey these twisted creatures hunt.

As most have said here, we are just hearing about it more. Pedophilia has been around as long as time.
Why is it we treat Psychoprenia as a mental issue but society treats pedophilia as a criminal issue? We pass laws that are intended to protect kids but, in many cases, only puts them in more danger. Pick any case in the last 10 years were a registered sex offender molested a child and instead of releasing the child... the pedophile killed the child. What about those that have not been caught?
As a society, our only hope is:
1. Mental Hygiene for the offender, and
2. Education
As a parent of a 9-year-old boy, I know that these laws do not protect my child. They are there as a deterrent and punishment. However, I also know that those with certain mental illnesses can't control their impulses and laws have no bearing on what they are capable of doing.

I think they may be more prevalent , many are being revealed to society at an alarming rate. which prompted my inquire even further into the history of their disguise and open acts.

i think they are just being heard about more because of the media. pedophilia is nothing new.
