5 days after my fiance proposed, we went to his parents house (his dad was at work) and told his mom. She heard the news and said "well that's ok". The fiance said she didn't know what he had said at first.. later she said congratulations.

His father does not know yet and it's going on one week. He has not told his brother yet either.

Is this normal? Why am I a bit upset?

I wouldn't wait for their approval. If that's what the two of you want to do Congrats. Don't let them rain on your parade. When I asked permission to marry my wife I had to stand up to a Marine twice the size I was believe me I was nervous enough to keep my distance but, I asked her parents at the same time. Her Mother (God rest her soul) left the room only
to return to say she wished us the best. Then her Father (God rest his soul ) walked up to me with the meanest look only to
give me a hand shake I'm still sore from. Then pulling me to the side telling me that a woman is like a car engine, They run alot smoother if you keep them oiled. He became my Dad
and her Mother became my second Mom. Don't let it upset you, just give them time to accept it. They are really counting the days until their Grandparents believe me when that happens nothing else matters.

You should have waited until everyone was together. Delay reaction is normal. It all depends on how long you two have been together. Mom needs to adjust to the idea you both are going to be married. If no one mention it at the next gathering, bring it up.

depends if they like you. If they don't they will be hell in the long run. I divorced my wife cause she was too close to them. She would believe their bullshit. Good luck!

I've been married twice, and what my future in-laws had to say about it was moot.
