ok, basically, the first time I asked this question I got some very good answers, but unfortunately I put the wrong reference. I do not own one of these Bibles, and when I looked this verse up online (on 2 different sights) the verse was in brackets-which confused me-I am not sure if it is ommitted in this version or not. Thanks 4 all the help!

Some early manuscripts do not contain verse 11, therefore some people think it may have been added later.

the nas is based on the old greek texts, the kjv, and tev also includes verse 11 from matthew 18.

other versions.. for whatever reason, chose not to include it because not all of the ancient manuscripts have the verse.

personally, i dont think vs11 hurts anything by being there. because really. Jesus did come to save the lost.

see Luke 15:1-32, which talks about a shepherd who rejoices to find the sheep which was lost.. and a woman rejoicing to find a coin which was lost.. and the story of the prodigal son, and the father who rejoices to have back his son who was lost.

My NASB is at work, but it has a lot of footnotes. If I remember correctly when there are brackets there is an alternative translation for the section in brackets. If you have the footnotes it will tell what the choices are, and why the one in brackets is viewed as the preferred translation.
