Yeah, it's almost like later Christians up and decided to ascribe a higher station to Jesus than he himself intended...

There are some remarkable similarities between Jesus and the prophets Elijah and Elisha (Elijah was Elisha's mentor). Elijah and Jesus came from the same area: Galilee. All 3 men functioned as prophets, and they all worked some serious miracles. All of them were persecuted in one way or another by the ruling authorities.
The most important difference between the "firebrands" (Elijah and Elisha) and Jesus Christ is the question of divinity. Neither Elijah nor Elisha claimed to BE anything other than prophets or "men of God": they were in most aspects normal men, albiet with a serious call on their lives.
Jesus claimed to be the "Son of God", and not just a normal man. He was not concieved through normal human intercourse; the Holy Spirit caused His physical conception. (Elijah and Elisha came from normal human parents.) Furthermore, Jesus lived His life as a constant fulfillment of ancient prophecy: the other two did not (they had a tendency to MAKE the prophecies). All three men died, of course, but in different ways: Elijah was translated (caught up bodily into Heaven), Elisha died of old age, and Jesus was crucified by the Romans (again, in keeping with the prophecies made about Him). Of the three, Jesus walked out of His own tomb three days after being murdered. Elijah and Elisha are still both dead!
Ultimately, it is the claims that each man made about themselves that separates them. Whether or not you believe such claims is another thing.
Elijah/Elisha said the power they demonstrated came from God.
Jesus said He IS God.
That is the difference.

Bal,
Jesus fulfilled the prophesies of the Messiah. Elisha did not. Jesus was GOD's SON and Elisha wasn't. Jesus walked on water and Elisha didn't. Jesus gave HIS LIFE for our sins and Elisha didn't. Jesus trained HIS Disciples to spread GOD's WORD and Elisha didn't. GOD sent JESUS to free us from the Old Testament LAW but Elisha couldn't. We are very fortunate that JESUS came and fulfilled the Old Testament Prophesies. That is why we are able to become Christians and be freed from our sins. Have a WONDERFUL WEEKEND.
Thanks,
Eds, Simply a Christian

Jesus was the only one who could die for the sins of the world. Elisha couldn't. Elisha had faith, and God gave him the ability to do these miracles. Elisha ask for a double portion of what Elijah had. Elisha was born of man and woman. Jesus was born of the Holy Spirit and woman.

Actually, it was Elisha's BONES that raised the dead...didn't see the J-man do that one!
I bet people are going to say that J*sus did all of his miracles independently......choosing to ignore the fact that the Bible says only false prophets will claim they are not simply the mouthpiece of G-d, like Moses, and instead will act by themselves. Hm...
So the answer is....absolutely nothing special.

Jesus has the skill to augment the lifeless because his father gave him that skill. no longer because he's God. Jesus is an angel. he's the first born of God. the starting up of God's advent. (Revelation 3:14) 14 “And to the angel of the congregation in l. a.?o?di?ce?a write: those are the flaws that the Amen says, the committed and authentic witness, the starting up of the advent by technique of God, What else might want to you call Jesus if no longer an angel and the son of God? God reported Jesus became his son. The Apostles agreed that Jesus became God's son. The demons reported Jesus became God's son. The roman soldier reported Jesus became God's son. If he's God's son then he's an angel a twin of a few thing of God's heavenly sons. What angel might want to be better helpful than Jesus? Who might want to be head over Jesus between the angels? The Archangel potential chief angel. No different angel might want to in effective condition that description.

Ahh well done. You finally worked out that Jesus was not all that special. Its just that Jesus had a super cool hair style going on, that long wavy hair made everyone notice him. Wereas Elisha just did not have that X factor.

Elisha's power was given to him by God so that he could share God with others. Jesus' power is His own, since He is the son of God. Jesus was born of a virgin, whil Elisha was not. Elisha is a servant of God, who is mortal. Jesus IS part God, and died and rose again. He is not merely human.
Lee Strobel's books are also an excellent resource for answering some of Chiristianity's toughest critisisms.

Elisha could not provide the ransom needed to provide salvation to fallen mankind. Jesus did provide that ransom though as he was a perfect human.

You mean besides being the Son of God and rising from the dead and paying the price for even your sin even though you reject him?
You mean besides before he was Yahshua, God who became flesh to die for us so that we can be reconciled to God an that before that it was by him and through Him that all things were created?
I could think of a few things but your only here to mock so I won't bother.
Repent you viper.
