I'm motivated to lose weight to prove my friends wrong over the summer. They jokingly call me fat etc, but they dont mean it in a rude way, the only reason they say it is cause i make fun of myself about it too. Starting this week I am burning 500-700 calories on DDR, running 1 mile, skateboarding 2 miles, and then eating healthy. These are all fun for me so i'm not overworking myself with boring things. Approx how much weight do you guys think i'd lose minimum a week?

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

I think you want to focus on the experience, not on the expectation. Congrats and kudos for doing a workout that you know you love and as such is not a labor for you. That is much much more important compared to the race of losing weight.
Depending on your body type, metabolism, and such you will lose in a different pace than others. But only you can follow that process. I think that losing a pound every 4 days will be very realistic in the first couple of weeks. Maybe at the start more. But your body will level out, and you will need to increase your effort to lose more.
You can spot this when you notice you stopped losing weight in the same ratio as you did before.
Keep an eye on your calorie intake as well = basically the theory is you lose weight if your intake is below your calorie need. Just test what gives better results without draining you or depriving you of energy; maybe you need to cut 500 calories in your diet, maybe less.
But for sure, the attitude of doing a workout that is fun and a healthy lifestyle should be your pride and motivation. Staying in shape is a way of life.

I'm going on a diet as of next Monday, but I'm an old (can you say 'fart' and not get flagged?) sounds to me like you are serious, and although you sound like you are 'young and fresh' If you try to fit anything New into your already good sounding routine, start that part slowly, and work up. You can't do all that s#@% you mentioned if you are laid up with an injury. Don't know what your calorie intake is, but here's the general formula: 3000 calories (approximately) equal one pound. You should at least try to do a good estimate of how many calories you take in, so you can do the math as far as number of pounds you can lose. And you should make sure your nutritional needs are met. Remember, you will still need things like vitamins, minerals, amino acids, (a lot of that will come from food, but if you restrict your variety and amount.... ) you will not be able to build up any muscle, and may actually lose some. I would suggest going to a local nutritionist, or at least check it out online, so you don't accidentally do yourself harm. Good luck to us Both

Here's a good algorithm to work with:
Total the number of calories you ingest for an entire week.
I figure you're young so it's probably around 3000.
Now figure out how many calories you burn every day performing regular activities. Exact equations for cals burned in an activity can be found on many websites after a simple yahoo or google search. Multiply the amount of cals burned per day times 7 to get cals burned per week.
Subtract the burned cals from the ingested to find your net caloric intake. If it's negative you'll lose weight.
There are 3,500 calories in one pound of fat so you must total that much to notice any weight loss. Good luck!

it depends on your personal body type.
some people work out a LOT and eat really healthy, but they don't loose any weight.
talk to your doctor to see what he thinks..

depends how you weight now and how much you eat.
if you eat 1,600 calories and weigh 160 you can burn about 1.5 pounds each week.
if you weigh less, youll lose less.
if more,youll lose more.
