that depends on what you mean by a lot.
First a puppy shouldn't be sepperated form mom until 7 weeks ols.
a puppy that young should get about 5-8 min play time and then at leat a 1/2 hour rest.
it should also be fed at least 4 times a day.
I would actually suggest taking it to a vet and have a checkup, most vets wont' start shots this early so the puppy should not be allowed outside as there is a good chance of it getting something.

Just as it's normal for a baby to sleep a lot, newborn puppies sleep a lot also. You should give him a bath probably once every week if he gets dirty a lot. I don't know if he's indoors or outdoors, but I would suggest keeping him indoors as much as possible since he is so young. Hope this helps! ;-)

yes, they will sleep for most of the day, he should only be bathed like every 3-6 weeks..
for a quick fix just get some unscented baby wipes and wipe the dirt away..
make sure you clean the sleep from his eyes or else it will cause the hair around his eyes to matt up.

They sleep 90% of their day until about 10 weeks. As they get older they will spend more and more time awake. Remember though to let the pup sleep. It is so important to their development.
If it is a small breed pup it's blood sugar could be dropping. Offer little bites of food every few hours to prevent this from happening. If the pups becomes lethargic, then you know for sure it is the blood sugar dropping. Try a little (just a little) pancake syrup on the tongue and feed it right away.
Good Luck

Of course! they are like newborn babies...more they sleep, the better. Dont wake him up when hes sleeping either, he will get up when hes ready. also, dont tire him out all day with playing, hes only 5 weeks old! Have fun =)

Yes, I think you should do some research on puppies. You know, since you have one now!
