Staten Island is getting over crowded and staten island has only one subway and that is in the east side. People like me cant alway wait for a bus and we're always late for work and school too. People in S.I need to commute. What do you think?

I was a Staten Island Resident for about 16 years. It is true that Staten Island does not have a rail system that services the majority of the Island, but I am not sure that a majority of the Voters there want one.

Staten Island is the lone "Bedroom Community" in New York City and many of the residents want to keep it that way.

Of course! There are many ridiculous things in NYC we question why?

Besides the Staten Island subway, the city could have built the mono-rail to cover more of the city which can help lower the traffic volume and benefit the travelers.

It's because it'll take away most of cab drivers' income.

YOU SHOULD HAVE THOUGH ABOUT IT BEFORE MOVING TO "IS THAT AN ISLAND." AS WE MANHATTANITES REFER TO IT. THE ISLAND IS KIND OF SMALL AND IS VERY HILLY IT WOULD BE A LOGISTICAL NIGHTMARE TO PLACE A SUBWAY IN STATEN ISLAND. MANY HOME OWNERS WOULD BE DISPLACED THE LEGAL COST WOULD SKY ROCKET AND I'M NOT TOO SURE THAT THE RESIDENTS ARE TOO KEEN ON THAT.

Well they could extend the light rail system but there are better places in NYC for that kind of infrastructure.
