Marines, definitely. Here's proof: while the 101st Airborne was surrounded for 8 days in Bastone, the Marines on Guadalcanal held out for more than 4 months cut off from American supply lines by eating captured Japanese rations while beating back multiple ferocious attacks.

I think they are both great! However, most of my family & thats a lot, have been in the Marines. A member of my family has been in the Marines since it's inception during the Revolutionary War! I would never sell the Army short, they are just as good as the Marines!

The Marines teach you how to eat bullets, the Army will teach how how not to get shot.

Seriously though, you're talking about two different animals. The Marines are awesome at taking new ground. The problem is they can't hold it by themselves. Thats where the Army's numbers come in to play. Do some research on Fellujah (SP?) if you need to.

I think that Marines are better because they are well trained. But if your in just an ordinary army, you wouldn't be able to be trained that well if you're in a poor country like Vietnam or the Philippines. I know this information because I've been in the navy and they used to teach that the Marines will be highly trained soldiers who will always protect America!

I don't mean to ride the fence or anything, but no branch is better than the other. I'm in the US Navy, and I know people have their things to say about the Navy, but truth is we're all great. Each branch has a speciality that provides support for the other branches and without one piece of the puzzle, it wouldn't be what it is today.

General force - USMC, specialized forces - ARMY.....does it all matter - no....i dont give a **** air force, navy, coast guard, marines or army all our my brothers and no one is better than the other really we all fight for the same colors.

questions like this divide the military and dont serve us any good at all...and besides everyone with a brain knows that not joining is the smartest thing.... a la george bush....i know i just called bush smart but really not joining is the smartest thing he ever did...he was against the vietnam war but didnt know how to smoke out of a bong and eventually got pissed off like hitler that no chicks liked him and now hes taking it out on the rest of the world...
