It isnt inappropriate, but take it from someone who has tried this- college graduations tend to be long events, and 3 and 5 year olds generally get restless about one hour in and then you get to miss graduation because you are in the hall or somewhere else trying to entertain the children. If you have the option, let them stay home and they can enjoy the after party with all of your family.

Those poor kids will be bored, bored, bored. Graduation ceremonies are like dying. You sit for hours, and hours, and hours. It would be the Titanic all over again. If you medicate them real good, it might work. Do the pre-graduation and post graduation, but take them to a nearby park to play while the old people read a list with thousands of names on it.

In MY opinion, that would be a disaster because MANY children around those ages make a whole bunch of noise, which REALLY interrupts the ceremony by distracting the speakers from speaking and the audience from listening.

Yes, of course. This is a good opportunity to show your kids that after they finish school next is graduation. Make sure that you will pay attention on their behaviour so that your brother's graduation day will not turn into a disaster. Give them a little something to give to your brother and teach them how to say congratulations and how to shake hands.

I have been performing in highschool graduations as a musician and I usually see parents going all out crazy when they hear the name of their kid(s). I recommend bringing flowers and balloons! Some even bring bullhorns! It's great! I would also take them out to dinner afterwards and take a lot of pictures!

I just came from my niece's graduation and it was noisy and long. People had kids there and it was fine. However for the kid's sake find out how long the ceremony lasts. They can last a pretty long time.
Tell your brother congratulations for me.

Well i got the chance to witness my cousions graduation but i was like 12. I suppose you can bring your kids, but make sure you strictly tell them not to be so loud. You can bribe them " mommy will give u desert if u behave" for example. So make sure they behave. Bring somthing along, so that if a disaster strikes you can prevent it .

Grad ceremonies are cruel and unusual punishment even for adults... I wouldn't inflict it on a child! If the whole family can afford to fly in what's another $50 or so for a sitter :)

Yes you can. Just know that depending how large the graduating class is, you may be in for a long night.

If your kids know how to behave in public (meaning they will stay seated and quiet) then go for it. If your kids can't behave in other settings- meaning they do things like run wild in a restaurant- then do everyone a favor and don't take them.
