I hope I'm not too confused about this, but I think I read a time or two in the Bible where Jesus himself attended a party or two. There is nothing wrong with a "Christian" attending a party that has beer/wine at it. It is whether he/she partakes of consuming that alcohol against their better judgement (a decision - not a condemning judgement of a person) that decides whether they are doing something wrong or not. There are certain absolutes in the Bible; kind of like the ten commandments, and then there are things that are left open to interpretation, like drinking. No, it's not good for someone to go out and get so hammered they can't remember their mother's name, but a beer or two isn't wrong and there's no place in scripture that condemns the consumption of alcohol. Can anybody remember Jesus' first miracle? It involved a little wine did it not? Besides, why does this "Peters" need to get "right with God". Is it because you feel the responsibility to force him to surrender to the law, or is it because following the teachings of Christ will bring a person into a more real reality than they've ever experienced before? A Christian's responsibility is not to look done on those around them and try to make them feel guilty enough to submit to the teachings of Jesus. Their responsibility is not even to look foward to going to heaven after they die, but to take part in bringing heaven to earth as long as they still have air in their lungs. For Jesus, heaven and hell were present realities. Ways of living we can enter into here and now. He talked very little of the life beyond this one because he understood that the life beyond this one is a continuation of the kinds of choices we make here and now. Stop worrying so much about the law and focus on the person. The Pharisees seemed to stumble with this. They constantly slammed people with "THE LAW" and tried to make everyone around them feel like they were just worthless. I think it's funny that those that were MOST concerned about "the law" in the Bible, were those that Jesus reserved His most severe language for. He called them hypocrites, broad vipers, even sons of hell. Try to present the gospel as good news it is, not as a "you can't have any more fun or you're a big fat sinner" speech. There shouldn't be an agenda behind your witnessing either. Oftentimes the Christian community had sent the message that we love people and build relationships in order to convert them to the Christian faith. So there is an agenda. And when there's an agenda, there isn't really any love, is there? It's something else. We all need to rediscover love, period. Love that loves because that is what Jesus teaches us to do.

What's sad is that young people think they have to have alcohol at a party for it to be a "fun" party. When I was young I went to many parties and never drank anything alcoholic. I got teased by some people, but I just laughed it off and kept to my soda. It's not that hard to stay true to yourself and your values.

That said, I'm certainly not against a beer now and then or a glass of wine with dinner.

No. To go to a party where there is alcohol is one thing. I don't have a problem with that. I'll have a drink or 2. Now, to go to a drinking party where the sole purpose is to get wasted is another issue. What does darkness have in common with light? I'd stay away from that.

I wont go to any drinking party and i will pray for Peter.

John 3:16[kjv] For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.

so when we believe in JESUS we have eternal life.JESUS lived a sinless life and gave up his life as a sacrifice so we can be sin free. Ask JESUS to come into your heart and forgive ur sins and cleanse ur past with his blood.

With a simple prayer like above u can be saved.JESUS loves u and wants u to be saved.

I am not young but I believe as Ben Franklin did. My favorite quote of his " Beer is proof God loves us and wants us to be happy"

Course then again, I've been legal to drink for about 33 years

Look drinking is only a problem for some Christians. Fundamentalists don't own Christianity. May other denominations are okay with it.

My anser is yes, I have and probably will agaion - but I have since learned that getting swakked on beer is not a good idea for me.

I think it's better you simply pray for Peter yourself rather than voicing your concern for him over the 'www.

You'll get more peace over his situation that way than by posting here.

Judge not lest ye be judged.

Didn't a guy named Jesus say that? Then why in the hell are you asking this question for? Did the Devil make you do it?
