Gargle with warm salt water, take tylenol, and try taking Claritin in case it's caused by allergies.

I don't know why it hurts on only one side, but perhaps the infection is only severe on that side of your throat. If I was you, I would go to Walgreens and get a sore throat antiseptic spray. Just simply spray it on the back of your throat and it should cool/soothe your throat. To get rid of the infection, though, I recommend gargling with a third of a cup of apple cider vinegar. Fill the the rest of the cup with water to dilute the apple cider vinegar. You might want to suck on ice cubes before gargling, because the stuff tastes kind of nasty at first but you will get used to it and it kills the bacteria. Don't swallow it; just spit it out after gargling. It tastes kind of like hot lemonade. I guess you could refrigerate it and it might taste a bit better. In any case, you might want to have a drink on the side for after you gargle. I know it sounds gross, but it does work. I was skeptical when I was first told about it, but it helped. I hope you feel better soon and I hope this helps! ;-)

Also, about the honey...it won't work with regular honey that is store-bought. In order to have honey help kill the germs (because germs can't live in honey due to its thickness), it has to be real, organic honey, I guess you could say. No preservatives, because that kills the effectiveness of the honey.

Drink liquids which are warm such as hot chocolate or hot tea.
Warm drinks sooth your throat and make it feel better.
Take some Tylenol and some Benadryl so you can get some rest and the pain will go away. Also its no joke that chicken soup will make you feel better. Maybe try some warm chicken broth.
Suck on some lozenges or some life savers
This will all make you feel so much better.

I can only tell you what works for me. A glass of warm water with a teaspoon Peroxide and a teaspoon plus of salt. Gargle every hour. in between, suck on some ice. If this does not work for you, it may be that you have an infection Go see your Doctor, and he./she will give you medication that will clear it up. Good luck.

Your throat is sore because it is being aggravated by sinus drainage. Eliminate the sinus drainage and you will eliminate the sore throat. Try sinus pills but be careful to read the label...some may cause drowsiness.

Gargle with warm salt water...or warm water with an aspirin disolved in it...or drink hot tea with lemon and honey (or just hot water with lemon and honey)...chew a piece or two of Aspergum...or have your tonsils taken out!
