Talk to your doctor or a dermatologist about a prescription for Retin-A or Differin. I've tried both & prefer Differin because it was effective but easier on my skin.

I also have found Aveeno Positively Radiant Daily Cleansing Pads have helped smooth my skin.

BTW, I'm a woman of color too so I feel comfortable recommending the above products.

Neutrogena makes products w/ salicylic acid that may help you but may be too harsh if you have dry areas.

Some people swear by using aspirin topically to promote cell turnover.

You can crush up 6 plain, uncoated aspirin tablets and mix it w/ a little water to make mask.

Mix 6 aspirin tablets with a little aloe to make a mask.

Use about 6 uncoated tablets, witch hazel, tee trea oil, and aloe to make a thin paste.

For toner:
8 ounce bottle of distilled water add four uncoated aspirin
or
mix of 1/2 water, 1/2 witch hazel, 15 aspirin, and 2 drops of tea tree essential oil and 2 drops of rosemary essential oil

I used the Visibly Even line from Neutrogena, it works well and you don't have to worry about it bleaching out your skin.
