The quick answer is YES. All provinces in Canada have major urban centers and lots of rural areas. Much of Canada is forest and lakes, mountains and farm land, but there are many large cities Vancouver in BC, Calgary in Alberta, Regina is Saskatchewan, Winnipeg in Manitoba, Toronto in Ontario, Montreal in Quebec, Sydney Nova Scotia, Turo New Brunswick and St. John's NFLD.

Opinion? Depends on how you look at it. There are over 4 million BCites.

Over 21/2 Million live in Greater Vancouver and Frazer Valley
3/4 Million on Vancouver Island
1/2 Million in the Okanagan

So that's about 3 3/4 Million Urban BCers cramping themselves in valleys and Islands. Only 1/4 million taking advantage of space (and there are a lot of other cities out there I didn't bother to get around to.)

The place is big with rural opportunities, but we are an urban society.

The territories, Newfoundland & Saskatewan are more rural than BC. And Ontario, Quebec and Alberta are also Urban.

BC can be both, it depends on where you want to live. Alberta has major cities like Edmonton, Calgary, Lethbridge with lots of smaller more rural towns and cities as well.

It is getting increasingly expensive to rent or find housing in Calgary despite a booming job market. The province doesn't seem inclined to put on rent controls.

Saskatchewan is more rural although there are larger cities there Saskatoon, Regina .

Manitoba is a mix of rural and urban with Winnipeg , Brandon and Thompson being it's biggest cities.

Ontario definitely is becoming more urban than rurual but there are still areas up north and to the north west and in the south west that are still small towns and rural type living.

I'm not that familiar with Quebec and the Atlantic provinces to give a decent opinion, except to say the small towns in the Maritine areas are picturesque.

Well, lets see. British Columbia has more than 4-million people with 2.5-million living in Greater Vancouver; it is larger than France, Germany and the Netherlands combined and is the westernmost province in a country with the second largest land mass in the world. It is the gateway to the Pacific Rim, it will host the 2010 winter Olympic games (Vancouver - Whistler) and it has an economy so bouyant that it makes many U.S. states look like Third-world countries. We didn't get this way by living in igloos and trapping beavers.
