Ok, I consider myself to be very in shape. So are my parents, and they're well into their sixties. My dad has always kept his six pack and toned body his whole life, and my mom has always been a fitness freak. They've both ran successful businesses together and spend over 80 hours every week for their business, spend countless others taking care of me and my siblings, and yet they still manage to find time to excercise and stay in shape. My question is this, why is it that everywhere you go, almost every guy, or girl, has a beach ball(fat stomach), I mean, aren't they aware of their obesity? It's just kinda disgusting seeing this. Abs aren't that hard to get, I've had it ever since I was 12 because I'm an avid athelete, running 3 times a week for 4 miles and weight training the other 4 days. Why are there so many fat people in America, and why don't they bother to run to at least get rid of their big gut???

This to the answer my littlebit,

Look, I understand that there are many factors to it, but that is no excuse to be overweight. I am not trying to bag on people that are overweight, even though it might seem that I am. Really, I train people that are overweight FOR FREE, helping them use a little bit of weight first, and then letting them take over. I do admit that i have a gym pass, but that is only for my weight training. I stay fit and in shape by running around my neighborhood, and that is DEFINITELY FREE. So to you and all who criticize me for being too mean, I just look at you as being too lazy to just go run, and please, please stop coming up with the bullshit excuse of not having a gym membership, because running is free. Also, if you are depressed, working out is a good way to help you cope

Why are you calling me a dumb jock? Sure, I love sports, but I do love reading and developing my mind as well. Why do you assume that I am some ignorant person who doesn't know what the library is? Personally, I think that you are the type of person that is jealous of anyone that has both smarts and is atheletic.

Alright look, for all of you that thinks that obesity is genetic...GET OVER YOURSELF, ITS NOT! JEEZ, genetic is something that you can't help. BEING FAT, well, you can help that, by excercising and dieting. And for all the BS out there saying that obese people have tried, yea, they did, but they gave up before anything counted right when they saw a plate of hotwings.

A lot of people are just plain lazy. I mean a lot of them would rather eat stop at McDonald's than "slave" in the kitchen for an hour cooking a healthy meal. Also, what about portion sizes?. I'm American but live in Italy and there isn't any of this, "medium, large, extra-large, super extra-large" portions of anything...it's all the same portions. If you want more, you buy another portion. This is true in all of Europe, not only Italy. Oh, and some people are even lazier than that...they go through the drive-through and eat in their car. I mean, talk about being lazy! I'm 30 but when I was a kid restaurants and fast food restaurants were a special occasion type of thing...now a days people go twice a day! Also, a lot of people take the car everywhere. I know people who will drive to the stores even if they are less than a 5 minute walk a way, and they want the closest parking space to the store because God forbid they have to walk 20 feet to the door. Sure, some of it may be genetics, but I think it's around 10%.

I could go on and on, but I think you get the point.

But it seems like you are at one end of the extreme and these obese people are at the other end.

Of course abs are hard to get. Not every guy is going to be able to have time to train like you do. There is no excuse for obesity, but the pressure on people to look 'perfect' is probably the reason so many obese people don't bother. It seems if they don't have a rock hard body with low body fat, they aren't going to be good enough anyway. Of course what should really matter is being healthy, but most people are too superficial to care about that part.

Well, America being what it is, with KFC's Famous Bowls and those bigger than big subs coming out in Subway restaurants soon, I think it's the fact people can get their hands on large amounts of food at lower prices. Then you have society creating things like the size zero, one-dimensional celebrities selling their false products, weight loss supplements, and the gullible must sit and wonder what is right in this place of extremes! Also I don't believe in genetic obesity. I think Prader-Willi Syndrome doesn't even exist. Anorexia's probably the polar opposite of PWS, and one can be treated successfully for anorexia! Kids that are 'diagnosed' with PWS are most likely brats who whine for what they want and make a scene until their parents give in just to quiet them.

The short answer is that most Americans are LAZY. It's much easier to sit on the couch watching TV for an hour than it is to go running for an hour. It's also easier to get a super-sized tripple big mac with extra large french fries and XL coke from McDonald's than it is to cook a healthy, well balanced meals at home.

Also, some of it's genetic. People such as yourself are blessed with natural thinness, while others can spend 3 hours at the gym everyday and live on a permanent diet and they will never be thin.

It is strange I'm the USA how do many people have one excuse or the other as to why people are so fat, They never mention the fact our food is poisoned. our choices are limited, we don't have a lot of time to cook, many of us don't have access to healthy food, healthy food costs more, a lot of us don't know how to cook. No one ever mentions these points. In the USA, if you want to belong to a gym, you pay big bucks, otherwise, too bad...

wow. you're so mean. obesity can be genetic so some people just can't help that they look the way they do. people with weight issues probably do realize that they have a problem but a lot of them just don't care what others think of them anymore. however, some people do care a lot when someone else says that they're fat. so maybe next time, you should think before you post a question like this all over the internet =)

I hate to tell you this, but some of us HATE exercise, and some of us LOVE round people!!

People come in all shapes & sizes, and are also turned ON by all shapes & sizes.
Your "hard-body" is as much of a gross-out to ME as the beach balls are to YOU---I would never date someone like you!

All the time YOU spend developing your body, I prefer to spend developing my MIND...which is a FAR more integral part of a person than abs could ever be. You'll never see me in a gym, because it's just NOT important to me----but then, will I ever run into YOU in the library?
Don't be so judgemental...there's plenty of room in this world for intellectuals AND dumb jocks.

Have you ever talked to a professional about your obsession with fat people? This is your second, at least, post concerning people with weight problems. If there weren't any fat people around, how would you know how utterly perfect you are? Who would you have to look down on and judge? You should be thankful that fat people are there to inflate your over-inflated ego, m'dear.
