yet continues to go there. Okay, maybe she's not ready for a full conversion, but at the very least she should know that church is a scam. she's an older lady and I've known her for years and couldn't bear to hurt her feelings.

she complains about the preacher (he tells them how much money to give, even though she doesn't have a lot), the women in the church fight and talk about each other. so many people have this same story, yet continue to go back to that church or they tend to seek another church (or as my neighbor puts it "house of the lord"). please help me to understand how this promotes spiritual growth or any other positive aspect in your life.

She would be so much better off saying home. Some people live off of complaining and gossip. They are truly miserable people. When she starts talking about thing in a negative way either change the subject or find an excuse to leave. It takes two to carry on a conversation..Good luck to you

This is certainly not how a Christian should act.

I don't know why she would go, maybe it's because she feels comfortable there or because if she has other people to complain about then she doesn't have to examine her own faults and can feel better about herself.

From your description it sounds like a church where a bunch of people who are not really saved go to feel good about themselves and unfortunately for them they will hear those dreaded words from Jesus on the day of judgment "I never knew you..

Matthew 7:21 "Not everyone who keeps saying to me, 'Lord, Lord,' will get into the kingdom of heaven, but only the person who keeps doing the will of my Father in heaven. 22 Many will say to me on that day, 'Lord, Lord, we prophesied in your name, drove out demons in your name, and performed many miracles in your name, didn't we?' 23 Then I will tell them plainly, 'I never knew you. Get away from me, you evildoers!'"

she is not fully matured into serving the Lord..as the wheat and the tares are allowed to grow together till the harvest, so are the wicked and the righteous in God's church until the harvest...this happens in the church i'm in now...well from times past..what i do is just go to church, pray, sing hymnals, listen to the preacher then back home...i had my worship !!! my wife is from another religion and advises me to leave the church i'm in for the same reason you are spelling out....well i'm not leaving it because the fundamental teachings are no doubt bible truths...many of these doctrines are not found in other churches...so i stay!!!knowing that i'm in the church to serve God and not people or be influenced by people to live like them: un-christlike.....then i found peace in me....finally, i learn not to hate people...i.e. LOVE THY NEIGHBOUR AS I DO MYSELF....God bless

Is a must to go to church. She has to come and fulfil her duties but she and others bring along their extras. Up to you to listen or not.
I better not. It defeat the purpose.

She continues to go because it works for her. She's not asking you for a remedy to her problem, she likes her problem just fine!

She's gossiping, another no-no ... You might remind her that gossiping is not a good Christian trait :)

Maybe she just likes to complain. My dad complains about my brother constantly and when I suggest remedies, he always gives me an excuse as to why he couldn't do that. I figured that he just likes to complain and I don't try to fix it now.
