It would be a terrible ticket as there are people who wouldn't vote for Hillary because they don't want a woman in the White House. There are also people who don't want a black in the White House. This combination will result in a loss of a lot of votes.
And then there's people (like me) who can't stand Hilary Clinton.

Even joined they will both lose because neither one has genuine power base. Their power is based on them being media stars and not much else.
John Edwards gets the nomination or possibly somebody who is waiting in the wings waiting for the front runners to burn and spend themselves out.
The 1960 comparison w/JFK and LBJ is in valid. If one added the power of Clinton and Obama together and multiplied it by five the resulting number would be considerably less than the power that LBJ had in 1960
In 1960 The vice presidency was a demotion and a huge loss of power and influence for LBJ. For Obama or Clinton the VP spot would be a huge promotion.
