I'm keen to lose some weight. Cutting out the real bad foods and excercise hasn't worked yet. I'm probably cutting out the wrong foods and doing the wrong excersice.
I don't want any diet pills (i gained 2 1/2 kilos taking xanical for a month)
I'm keen on one of those diets that invole drinking diet shakes. I don't know much about them and which one is best for me (i don't need to lose weight in a hurry -but it would be nice).
Which diet has worked best for you?

I drink a lot of fruit drink. Sometimes 2 litres a day (mostly 1 litre). Would that be a problem. I know it is, I'm just hoping that it's not too bad.

Keep a food journal so you can keep track of how much you are really eating. Weight Watcher's is a very good diet... you need something you can live on and be healthy, not a temporary "diet". If cutting out the "bad foods " hasn't helped, mabe you should think about how many calories you might be getting in your drinks!

All diets work in the same way. If they restrict calories to a point where you are burning more than you eat, you will lose weight. If the diet does this than it will work, if not you will fail. Whether or not a diet is healthy is separate from whether or not it will work. If you severely restrict calories to under 1200 per day, you will lose weight but going this route is very unhealthy so be careful when reading about these diets. Also beware of diets that limit you to one food. Even if you are taking in a good amount of calories, you won't be able to get all the vitamins, nutrients, fat, carbohydrates or protein from just one type of food.

find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

try the fat smash diet... u know the diet from celebrity fit club... it tells you what foods are good and which are bad...also get rest, drink water, and cardio, cardio cardio!!!
also make sure you eat breakfast, lunch, dinner, and small healthy snacks in between so you can give your metabolism a boost. very important: dont starve yourself.. big misconception...if you skip meals your body stores the fat instead of burning it.
example:
breakfast: oatmel
mid morning snack: piece of fruit
lunch: salad with lo cal dressing
mid afternoon snack: yogurt or fruit
dinner: meat (lots of protein. protein is goooood) and vegatables, steamed or grilled.
snack... not too late but you can have popcorn or something light..
this helped me out a lot.. non gym either.. i walk 30 min a day..
