I am willing to admit God might exist. Having said that, I put its probability in the "Santa really does visit every child's house in one night" echelon.

Because I'm not agnostic? I don't merely lack belief in gods; I definately think that gods do not exist.

Because I've spent a helluva lot of time and thought into making my conclusion about this; it wasn't easy I had been debating it in my mind for awhile now. I do not have a fanatical unwillingness to consider the possibility of being wrong, nor do I adopt a position of "faith" taken independently of reasoning. My assertion is not dogma.

Omnipotent deities are the most illogical and impossible. The Pagan gods have a slightly higher probability of existing because they aren't defined with such paradoxical qualities as the Christian god is for example.

Sure, god might exist. But since there's no evidence and there's never been any, there's no reason to think he does until someone finally provides some proof. And I'm not going to live my life as though he might, and I'm not going to let you run my life like maybe he might. Until any proof arises, you're just another person with an irrational belief.

I admit that there is a possibility that God might exist--but the same is equally true of every God ever conceived, along with every "mythical" being ever described.

I also admit that it's possible that Paris Hilton might one day become a figure of worldwide respect due to her incredible talent, intelligence, and compassion--doesn't mean I'm going to waste my entire life waiting to see if it ever happens.

Because there is ZERO evidence to support the existence of such a being.
Until the time that someone provides a single, solitary shred of credible evidence, I will continue to know for a fact that it doesn't exist.
And remember, I said CREDIBLE evidence. Crying statues of mary don't count.

Atheists say: there is no evidence for God

Actually they don't feel like researching something that contradicts their beliefs so they just go on ahead and assume there isn't any evidence. Seek and you will find

I say: There is evidence for God everywhere. You don't even have to look for it. It is all around you.

David says: The fool says in his heart,
"There is no God."
Psalm 14:1
Why is this someone a fool? He is a fool because he sees all of creation and says to himself, "all an accident, pass the scotch"

(note to atheists: David was the king of Israel)

Christ says: Ask and it will be given to you; seek and you will find; knock and the door will be opened to you(Matthew 7:7)

Because the only reason to believe in the Monotheistic God, at least for someone of European ancestry, is because we were all forced to accept it by the Romans and those who gained control afterward.

So a study of the original texts is in order.

I read them sixteen times in nine translations. Nothing but politics, lies and fables.

Poof.

God is gone. Laid to rest along side Zeus and Odin.

Because it's not reasonable to go through life thinking all unprovable things might exist. Bigfoot, Invisible Weather Controlling Space Monkeys, and...healing crystals, lucky numbers and numberology.

I don't believe in magical thinking. It's not rational. God is one of MANY millions of things that I can't prove and I'm not going to give them credibility. We ALL approach life in this way. We don't think "I'm not SURE that the road won't turn to yogurt as I drive on it. I can't PROVE that..." Atheists just draw the line of credibility in a different place.

Lacking belief in any gods makes you an atheist.

Sure, goblins, pixies, and dragons might exist too, despite a complete lack of evidence.

Would you admit all other gods (thousands of them) might exist too? Or is it just your god that magically exists?

Even if one existed, it would not be the one of the bible.

And if that one existed, he wouldn't deserve worship.
