Went thro' some of the answers, interesting. I feel to really communicate with God in solitude, your own home is the best place. Closing out all outside interferances, and spending time with God alone is the best choice. In church, you are communicating along with others. There you are praising God, intereceding for someone else or just singing about God. But the real one to one communication is at home, in your quite time, alone with God. Nothing to beat that. Or at a retreat center far from the madding crowds and cities, or a mountain cabin, forest lodge etc where there is no distractions of TVs, cell phones and computers. No nothing. Just you and God alone with nature in the background.

Actually this may sound weird or different, but the place I feel most comfortable to worship God freely is at school. I am a 15 year old 10th grader. I go to Purpose and Potential Christian Arts Academy. I 'm the granddaughter of the principal. God just comes down in our school during praise and worship and everyone, including the kindergarteners, worship. Very rarely do people just sit in their seats. We worshipped for 4 hours straight one friday. I feel more comfort and ease to worship at school than at church.

When Jesus died on the cross the veil of the temple was ripped in two. That was the veil that separated the seat of God from mankind. It is so awesome that we can come before His throne with an open invitation, no matter where we are or what we are doing (well, except in the middle of practicing sin) and fellowship with the creator of all existance.

Short answer: It doesn't matter where I am at.

And that is considering that our church just opened an brand new 3500 occupancy sanctuary that has all the high tech video and audio. It is exciting but it hasn't gone to anyone's head. Our relationship with God is personal first then ministral to others.

No need of worldly place to meet God ! Almighty is always with us and we can interact at any place, any time, while meditating, even in mob; to say in any condition God is accessible, It is we to decide the place. However ! home & place of worship are of common importance in humanity to strengthen the unity, to concentrate on duties, to review the wrongs committed and reconcile to correct those, to set social goals etc.
The porpuse to create both (in Hindu Mythology at some places home & place of worship, both are called "Mandir") were the same by our ancestors. Method of systrmising the execution of tasks differs : at worshipjng place the tasks are executed purely on religious background whereas at home on various backgrounds.
Worshiping places must only be used possitively to bring together all in the community as well as out of the community too, and also to cuation & remind visitors, by own self cncience, not to commit wrongs to any one and also repend (do prayaschit) for the wrongs already committed.
To days I don't think both, home & place of worship, serving the porpuses, in turn we are incurraginh hatered amogst.

communicating? I would say alone, where God can hear me and mostly, I can hear Him.

for worship, there is no place better than with others who are truly worshipping in Spirit and in Truth... there is nothing like it when the Holy Spirit is there completely encompassing a group of people in corporate worship.

God does speak to us thru others as well, in group settings, but sometimes, you need that 'Peace, be still, and know that I AM God' in private where the world stands still while in His presence.

For lover of God body is the temple of God. To commune we need a peacful place.
At home only people of house can commune with God.
At place of worship many, many many and many commune with God hence the vibration of that communion is very high.
Ultimate preference is communion with God in the temple of ones Body.

I think that depends on who you are worshipping with. When you are in the company of fellow believers who really understand what it means to worship God in Spirit and Truth, the atmosphere it creates is literally out of this world; but if I am in the midst of so many soulish believers that think that singing all the coolest songs with heavy guitar licks is where its at, I'd rather meet with the Lord at home.

Home. I have never seen the reason to Worship with other people. I can see going to a place to learn more about your respective religion, but I view that type of Worship as something very private. I wouldn't go to a public place to speak about intimate things between my husband and I.

When you have a wonderful television Minister like Dr. Stanley or Robert Schuller, you don't need to go to a church. When your disabled like me,it is a lovely way to spend Sunday morning. But if your young and intelligent as you sound, then church can be a wonderful stepping stone for your experiences. You may find you can contribute? After all church is a community not a building. Good Luck and God Bless.

When you are spiritually inclined, which you should be, it is important for you to be in spiritual thoughts. In a nutshell, your heart is the place where you will worship.

You can be in a religious congregation where chanting of Hare Ram ......... is the order of the surroundings, but your heart may be in the thoughts of your worldly dear ones, then that chantintg will only be considered as lip service to God.

Whereas your brother who might not have gone to attend the congregation due also to his other worldly attachments, but who feels unfortunate in not being able to make it with you, and constanly the chantings of the Hare Krishn, ring through his ears, will be better placed than you.

So work with your heart, but that doesn't mean, that you do not attend congregations knowingly.
