red or orange, but a complementing shade. because you are going more neutral on the walls, go for a bright color and make it the focus of the room

Buy a rug with a little of the wall colors in it- on a light background if the room is dark; or not as light if it's already good. Make sure you get stain repellent on the rug!

Stay with the color of your walls or as close as you can get to it and use yellow too.

I would get a multicolored design. Like geometric shapes would look nice. Just look for one that matches your paint color.

I'm tempted to suggest an Oriental rug, or something similarly themed.
