Good question and of course not, unless your insane (or religious) Problem is that religious people have got an illogical answer for every logical question concerning the fantasy stories of their religious books. Like 'it's a metaphor' or 'it's not meant to be taken literally' or 'it was the Devil'. Well why don't we see the Devil coming to Earth as a talking snake these days? Because it's just a story?? Anyone whether religious or not should watch the clip 'How do we know that Christians are delusional?' on youtube, it's fab and it doesn't just pick on Christianity, it really points out just how laughable religion is.

That's an interesting question because the bible doesn't describe the serpent it speaks of in Genesis. It was obviously a spiritual masquerade the evil one put on. Also, that was before the flood - so there are alot of animals that were - that were lost during that time. Let's just say I believe it wasn't just a talking snake in Genesis - it was a possessed serpent - maybe not like a modern day snake that we know - that we can't be sure of I don't think. But, there are no talking snakes with higher brain function like a human - no.

I'm not a Christian, but I'm often stunned at the ignorance of both SOME Christians and SOME atheists who don't know the words: symbol, idiom, figurative language, etc.

Could be you'll have many years of arguing over things that aren't that important.

Me? I'll go study some more Aramaic and Hebrew to better understand one of the most influencial documents to affect the Western World. I've read it four times, and I'm not religious. You might try it, not as a Christian, but as a scholar (am I wasting my breath? Is it all about hunting Christians? What a waste, if that's true).

Christians will say that it wasn't rather a snake, it became devil in hide, or devil possessing a snake. the concern, of course, is that the Bible does no longer say this, Christian theology made that up. In Genesis, it says that the snake became a creature God had made, and God curses the serpent to crawl on its abdomen after it deceives Adam and Eve. the tale purely is smart if it truly is meant to be taken as a real snake, no longer devil. So, you're suitable, it truly is a speaking snake. speaking animals purely exist in myths and fairytales.

That story comes from an older version, like these things tend to.
Originally the snake was sent by God to tell man/woman to eat of the tree of life and become immortal, but the snake thought better of it and told them to eat of the tree of knowledge, then they would know death and the snake would be immortal. The snake learned to shed its skin after it ate the fruit of the tree of life, and become young again and again... etc.
