The world is getting better because of scientific advancement.
This is scaring organized religion because they are losing their profit structure. So they claim the world is getting worse and try to get more money to build bigger churches.

Truthfully, the churches are getting bigger and bigger with almost everyone of them enjoying a building expansion at the same time they are receiving faith-based federal funding. One church I know rakes in thousands weekly from some mysterious source, has doubled in size, yet has no overt program to help the poor, in fact, most of the hundred or so parishioners attending the services look very well-dressed and prosperous.
Sometimes the churches go to other locations for doling out meals to the hungry, but few have built shelters or will give financial help to the needy. Our Homeless do not usually sleep in churches, but they sleep in the open air, in doorways, or in city shelters that are struggling to stay solvent.
In my opinion, it seems that these faith-based funds are not being used for the purpose they were intended to fulfill, though I would like to believe otherwise. There is no oversight of these programs and no way to tabulate just how many poor people are being helped.

I see more and more non-denominational churches opening up in rented storefronts, etc. They usually attract people because the founder is a guy who has a lot of charisma and also will often cater to people's views about religion that are different than those of the main stream denominational churches.
This is only my own observation, but I subscribe to a public internet based data reporting service, and do crime checks on the pastors of these churches. As a result I conclude that roughly 60% of these pastors have crime records.

Sure does. Being a Christian means that you are a follower of Christ, not man. We go to church to fellowship with other believers and increase our knowledge of the Word. Frankly I've become more spiritual and closer to God through solitude and serious soul-searching and reflection.

That is news to me, churches are actually disappearing at a fast clip and I doubt that the world is getting worse, that is hard to believe.

I think you may have a point there!
You have to remember too, that because of the media (like CNN 24 hrs/day), that we see so much more bad and evil than we would have ever been able to forty yrs ago.
God bless you and your family and have a great weekend!

The world is getting worse?
You mean terrorism? That's not much compared to Fascism in the 1930s?
Global warming is a big BIG problem, but as far as I can tell, the more religious you are, the less you care about that.
HIV is a big problem, but again, religious people are disinterested in it...
Not sure what you're driving at. From where I sit, things look pretty good if we can overcome global warming.
