Depending upon what you want to spend on each gift, I suggest gift cards.
If you know the grads well, spend a little more on him/her. If you are just a friend or acquaintance, spend a small amount
(like $10). Get the gift cards from places like Best Buy or Borders. The grads can pick out cds or books.

A good card along with a gift card to a grocery store. Most recent grads won't have much money and this is a practical way to make sure they eat.

I graduated last year and in all honesty I loved getting heart felt cards if you really knew the grad. If not just give money a little bit is nice (maybe $10) and it adds up fast with everyone who goes to those parties.

"The Purpose Driven Life Grad Gift Book" by Rick Warren. It costs about $10.00 and it has devotional thoughts and advice for students as they transition into a new phase of life.
Also, how about a pen/pencil set. Cards alone may suffice. Maybe, just give gifts to those closest to you (family only), or pool your money with one or two others and make the gift more substantial.

If you are determined to give something, decide what you are willing to spend and divy the cash among each. If that's too much of a burden, just give a card. They will understand.

If they're going to college, get them electrical stuff. Like adapters and plug bars and extension cords.
Trust me, friends laughed, but then they thanked me!

A card for each is sufficient. A gift for each is rediculous.
