I bought a five pound bag of limes for cinco de mayo thinking we would use a lot, and we used about 2... I don't want to just juice them, but I'm not coming up with any better recipes that call for more than just one or two limes. Any ideas? can you freeze them? I like them for drinks, but I don't drink enough to go through 5 lbs before they go bad...

Juice them anyway, and freeze the juice in an ice cube tray. Before you do that, zest them and you can freeze the zest in a ziplock with the air squeezed out. Then you have limes on demand!

Why don't you want to juice them? Fresh lime juice is the best for margaritas ... I know everyone buys that mix crap, but it's not even 1/2 as good.

Also, do you like key lime pie? It's my favorite!

Squeeze 'em all and make limeade. Just like lemonade.

Make a custard with them and turn it into lime meringue pie. Could adapt a lemon meringue pie recipe (needs to be from scratch).

Get a couple oranges and squeeze two oranges and two limes into a big pitcher--toss in the rinds too--and pour in a bottle of cheap rose wine. Add sugar to taste. Sangria!

Remove the peels in long strips, cut them into long thin slices, blanche them in boiling water along with 1/4 cup sugar until they start to turn transparent, remove, drain, cool, and roll in coarse sugar. Candied lime peel (keeps forever).

Maybe turn them into dessert. Peel one per serving. Squeeze one per serving and heat the juice with (per serving) 1 tsp. sugar, 2 whole cloves, and about six strips of lime peel. Pour syrup (don't strain!) over peeled limes in individual bowls. Chill, turning limes often to coat. (This recipe used tangerines in the original, but why not try it limey?).

Put them in the fridge and they will last longer. Then use them for things like cooking, salsa, guacamole, lime juice, chicken.....
(you probably all ready knew that because my guess is you bought them for cooking in the first place, LOL)
