Dear Orion Teachers- please excuse Orions behavior. He has been known to tease Buddhists as well. He seems to leave the Muslims alone. On good days, he gets along with everyone. He is a good kid really, just creative and mischievous.

He doesn't "need" you to do anything..., YOU need to worship out of gratitude and respect and love in return for His amazing love. To worship is to "adore" and "revere" and you can only honestly do that when you (IF you ever do) "GET IT"..; which seems like you are far from "getting it" at the moment.
It's just like this: If you commit a crime which has a punishment of the "death penalty" and you are convicted and sentenced and then someone you do not even know or ever really heard about, for no other reason except LOVE from the bottom of his heart, steps in and (saying the system would allow it) ASKS to take your place in that death chamber and let you go free!?? Then you heard that His FATHER was wealthy beyond belief, was merciful and wanted to adopt you in His Son's place and give you all the family benefits.., unless you DIDN'T WANT THE substitute to take your place and you refused it; then comes the "fireworks show".., and YOU CHOSE IT! What FOOL wouldn't fall down in gratitude and receive the deal and sing His praises and adore Him and tell Him regularly? Without the stupid, rediculous, disrespectful remarks.
You need to grow up and stand up and realize that God made a system of principles to live by that make us eligible to receive "on earth as it is in heaven".., blessing and all our needs met..., it is our CHOICE to get in on it or not! The devil don't want you to have it. Hell was prepared (scripture says) for the devil and HIS angels. Now if you want to go there and sizzle with them, you go for it. Again, it is YOUR choice! You don't have to and God rather you not, but He will not go against that wonderful "free will" He gave you! But brother, the devil will trick you, blind your senses, malign you and STEAL your place in heaven and laugh when you wind up in his eternal abode with him.
Wake up!!
Stand up Jesus and take a bow! What a plan, what a planner! THANK YOU!

to those that suggested God does not choose us, we choose him, I also have a question: Why can we choose God? If this is something like, 'we choose God so as that we are in a position to get into heaven' (that's, face it, the main significant argument for Christianity and specific some different religions besides), then this remains asserting that God demands worship for some reason. in any different case, if we did no longer could desire to worship God to get into heaven, then human beings do no longer unavoidably could desire to. I comprehend desirous to, yet making it a call for to get into heaven is asserting that God demands worship. needless to say in specific religions (quite Christianity) God demands it; this isn't any longer the question she asked. stressful is requiring, she asked WHY. i like this question.

Why else would God bother taking the time and effort to make you if he got nothing out of it? Do you like to be ignored and/or ridiculed by ingrates that you have helped?
Just because God has a spine and stands up for himself, people complain that God is cruel. Well, what has anyone done for God, that he owes us anything? We get annoyed at the fact that he expects us to stop every once in awhile and say "thanks" for life, love, air, water, & food. Why do people ast as if God was placing such a burden on us for asking us to be thankful every once in awhile? Think about how you would feel if you were God.

For the sake of argument, let's assume God exists, and that Hell is a place/state-of-mind/setting found in the afterlife where its residents suffer eternally without chance of redemption.
The issue you bring up is familiar to me -- it is what led me to change my interpretation of God. First of all, I don't think it's possible that God would send anyone to Hell. If one assumes that this divine being is all-loving and ever-compassionate, and given that every human being undeniably possesses some ounce of goodness in himself, there is no way that God would send anyone to Hell. Those who are said to be evil to the core, like Hitler or say a serial killer, are definitely anomalies: no normal human being commits such acts -- something is clearly off kilter in their minds. I don't think it's entirely their faults.
As for worship, I can't really picture God as the pompous figure you suggest. I think of humanity's relationship with Him as that between a father and his children. Children are expected to obey because it's for their own good, and their father hopes for love returned -- whether this love is returned or shunned, a father will still look out for his children, and love *them* at the very least.
It doesn't make any difference to me on whether or not you believe in God -- I would however, hope that my respect and acceptance of your beliefs/lack-thereof will be returned. Does the God I speak of seem more plausible at least purely in theory?

God doesn't NEED anything from you, He wants faith from you. Worship is an outward expression of faith of the internal expression of faith. As far as a "Lake" of fire, it was a valley. The valley existed outside the Dung Gate were small children were burnt as sacrifice to the false god Moloch. The valley is now a park.

He doesn't need us to worship him. He wants us to because as the Creator of the world, he deserves glory and honor. The creation alone is enough to bring him glory.
It says in the Bible that "God is not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance." He gives mankind free will to decide, so that we're not robots. He loves mankind and doesn't want them to go to hell-- in fact, he's graciously given a way to avoid hell, for any who believe.
It boils down to how you view God. If you don't see him as the Creator and Sustainor, then he wouldn't deserve worship. But as the Creator, Sustainor, and Saviour, he deserves (not needs) his creation to worship him.

We have all been 'fearfully and wonderfully' made. The question is who will take that in their heart and believe it. Its not God's desire that any would perish. Thats why He sent His Son to the Cross-so than all might have everlasting life. Everyone has THE choice though...to be fireworks...(as you put it) or to watch. God just happens to know who those people are who will choose Him (even before they choose.)

I am a christian and I do not believe non-believers are going to hell... i think that is taking a book to literally... God does not need anyone to worship God, it is because of the love we have for God that we take it as our duty to worship and praise... but would God be any less if no one worshiped and praised, no... it is God.

worship is something you choose to do. simply making God first is worship. He doesn't need it, you do it out of love
why'd God create you? because your parents were having a baby. souls are His job.
why'd He create 2/3 of humanity? same reason He created you and the other 1/3
unbelievers make themselves. God doesn't manipulate. besides, they wouldn't make much of a fire works show. they don't sizzle, just burn...
