a lot of alcoholics have shot their liver..... they have cirrhosis and end up pretty sick.. thus sign up for new liver. The terrible thing is a lot will continue to drink and just kill another. It use to be if one is actively drinking they were not a candidate for new liver... not so true today. I have seen folk live in a rehab/nursing home for the six months and get new liver then began drinking all over again. All this is paid for by our taxes since they are too sick to work and have no insurance.

I take it you are asking a rhetorical question. What you are suggesting is that alcoholics should be excluded from liver transplant programs.
I don't know where you live, but in Australia, the number of transplants given for alcoholic cirrhosis is about 12%. Considering the level of alcoholism in the community, this could not represent a large majority of them. The biggest percentage - about 30% - is for hepatitis damage.
Before a transplant is performed, each potential recipient needs to be alcohol and drug free for quite a while, hopefully after their transplant they can maintain it. But you can only judge them on what they do in the lead-up to the transplant. If they drink, they tend to be pushed further down the waiting list.
Eventually, they either learn their lesson, or die before a liver is available.

Alcohol content in alcoholic drinks are toxic to the human body, and are sent to the liver to "detoxicfied" using enzymes. After a long time, the liver will be damaged, a sure sign is that the liver hardens.
And when that happens, the only way to save yourself is a liver transplant.

Your liver has a hard time to break down alcohol. Large quantities break down the liver.
Here at least, they need so long in recovery to be considered.
Look at the number of smokers waiting for new lungs!

nicely odds are that he's basically gaining weight, yet your difficulty is justified. in fact, in end ranges of liver failure the tummy bloats. If the guy gets yellow eyes, you could count selection the days. especially to maximum, it is no longer the liver that kills off maximum youthful alcoholics.. it is pancreatitis.. inflammation of the pancreas. Any abdomen soreness/tenderness could be taken heavily with an alcoholic. Milk thistle is definitely one in each and every of the suited organic supplementations to take to help the liver.
