Im a 17 year old girl , highschool junior whos thinking about advanced education in the naval academy and service in the USMC. My question is , how important is my GPA? Do I have to be at the top of my class to be considered? Whats the academy like ?

as a Junior, you are probably too late. you should have begun the process at the end of your Sophomore year.

but as for grades: YES, you absolutely need to be in the top 10% of your class. You also need to have extracurricular activities like a sport as well as community service and other organizations like Scouting or Student Council.

Better be at the top and extremely well qualified in other ways as well. Annapolis takes about 2% of applicants. And if you can't conform to some pretty tough rules and standards (physical, educational, and ethical), don't bother to apply.

First and foremost, you have to be recommended by a senator and endorsed by prominent military active or retired. When you have that, then worry about your GPA.
