It can stay in the cabinet if you have not opened it, but once it is open, definitely put it in the refrigerator. Do the same with mayonnaise. This may sound crazy, but I thought everyone refrigerated mayonnaise. When I first met my husband, his family did not and I thought that was absolutely disgusting!!! It even says to on the jar. I finally go them to do so, but I can't believe they ate it all those years and never got sick. Yuck! I can't even bear the thought!!! Have a Blessed day! :)

In the cupboard before opening, fridge afterwards. Even at every restaurant I've worked at the ketchup was in the fridge and had to be put out on tables. And at the end of the night they went right back in the walk-in.

If you will notice at some diners the ketchup is on the table at all times. If this was a health risk you think they would not be able to leave it out. But I myself keep opened ketchup in the fridge, habit I guess.

Cabinet works ok - it might start to change flavor if not used for a couple of months but most commercial ketchups have enough preservatives to mummify a moose

plus, who likes cold ketchup?

We do it both ways. It will last longer in the fridge but it usually gets used up in a short time anyway.
