I have been to a lot of different chruches. Many beliefs tend to say, "Pants are a mans clothes and women can not wear them."
What was Jesus wearing? I know that it says in the Bible that a woman can not wear a mans clothes, how ever, when did pants come in to the picture? and, How did pants become only a "mans" clothing?
i am only asking because my wife likes to wear pants, how ever she is constantly running in to women who are screaming "God hates it when women wear pants!" and things like that. i tell her not to worry about it.
I am wondering, if any one knows the answer, the real answer, because I don´t, and i would like to tell my wife the "Truth" of "Pants"
Can any one help?

those women should know enough if they know God does not like woman in men's clothes to answer that, I do. and I do not where pants or any men's clothing.
first even in Christ's day men's robes had a long belt that a
woman want not a lowed because it was for men, the men would wrap it around and between there legs turning their robe into "trousers" so they could work in modesty. this is where pant started.
secondly until world war 2 a woman would never be seen in pants of any kind, it was even illegal in in the 1800's for a woman to wear them.

If you look at the evolution of male and female clothing, there are two factors that impacted the way attire went. As Lisa T pointed out, men needed pants because of their need to protect themselves while tending flocks and fields and while hunting. Pants made sense for them. But the reason women did NOT wear pants is a bit more interesting, although the prudish may not like it. Without trying to be sexist in any way (heck, how can a transsexual be sexist?) and to put it quite bluntly, the traditional female attire that has been the norm for centuries is a result of man's urges to have sex anytime, anywhere. Dresses made satisfying those urges much easier. A man could just pop open the front of his pants. No problem. But it would have been very difficult for a woman to take part if she was wearing pants. A dress, however, can be easily lifted and underwear can be pushed to the side. Empowerment has nothing to do with any of this. In today's world, dresses don't really make much practical sense for anyone, but many women prefer them, especially when they want to look their best. But there's certainly no sense in men wearing dresses at any point in history, except for gay bottoms who want to provide their lovers with easier access.

Pants, or trousers became part of men's clothing during the French Revolution. Wearing nickers or knee-breeches was a sign of the aristocracy. So, those who were "citizens" began wearing trousers or pants.
Pants became more fashionable for women during the 1940s. Actresses like Katharine Hepburn made women's pants or trousers fashionable and stylish. Pants became more acceptable for women to wear in the 60s and 70s. They are comfortable and work well in office settings and other places.
I wear pants to church. I'm Catholic. God doesn't seem to mind. He's glad to see me every Sunday.
Tell your wife not to worry. God loves everyone and He is very happy to see His children visit Him on Sundays. The others should find something else to do or meddle with.

The truth is, Paul warned about infringing on another Christian's freedom. If you have a conviction about something, honor it. Don't impose it on someone else. As Christians, we are supposed to be so busy working our stuff out, we don't have time to worry about other people's stuff.

When they were invented. Just because Mary Tyler Moore decided that they were for women doesn't make it so.
God is God, and He doesn't change.
