I went to the dentist today and they told me to put Veneers on my front 6 top teeth would be about the same price as Invisilign.

Which would you prefer?

The dentist says since I am 24 they would hate to grind down my original teeth, but then Invisilign could take over a year, easily.

What do you think?

LAURA,

WHAT MANY PEOPLE FAIL TO REALIZE IS THAT VENEERS CAN ALSO CHIP OR BREAK AND ARE THINGS TO ALWAYS WORRY ABOUT BREAKING, ETC.
INVISALIGN IS A NON-INVASIVE TREATMENT WHICH ADDS NOTHING TO YOUR TEETH WITH THE POTENTIAL OF BREAKING IN THE FUTURE.
WHEN I WAS A DENTAL STUDENT I HAD A SIMILAR OPTION. MY TEETH WERE SPACED QUITE A BIT AND MY CHOICE WAS VENEERS/CROWNS OR BRACES -- THIS WAS BEFORE INVISALIGN WAS INVENTED.
I CHOSE BRACES FOR THE REASONS ABOVE. I NEVER, EVER REGRETTED THIS CHOICE. GOOD LUCK.

Consider this: when you get veneers, your teeth are filed down and made smaller. This is a permanent change and cannot be reversed. If you get veneers, you will always have to have them. You can't go back.

Personally I would recommend that you try to straighten them out and keep them as natural as you can.

If a person has really small teeth, permanently discolored teeth or similar situations, then veneers are a good cosmetic choice. But if your teeth are healthy but just crooked, IMO it's not the best way to go. You are young, so please think about this very carefully.

I would do veneers. With invisilign you will have to wear a retainer for the rest of your life.
