I am sure that by now your bleeding must have stopped. If it happens again in future then all you need to do is to apply pressure. If it does not stop in a few minutes and heavy bleeding continues then go to any ER. In this case you must have needed stitches since your skin was ripped open. Each case is judged differently. If after applying pressure bleeding stops and there is swelling then do cold sponges for the first seventy hours and after that you need to apply warm sponges. Cold water helps so that inside bleeding stops. Warm sponges helps so that the fluid that oozes in the tissues gets reabsorbed in the circulation. Another important thing is that if you are not up to date in your tetanus shots then go ahead and get it. If you see signs of infection (this complication) can sometime happen then you will need antibiotics and it will help you if you go to see a doctor.

Take a cloth and apply pressure to the cut. You need to go to the ER or Urgent Care. If it is deep, you may need sticthes. If it is shallow, you need to stop the bleeding, so go anyway.
I've had a similar problem. I cut a very small piece of the top of my index finger with a pair of sewing scissors. It didn't seem like a very serious injury, so I applied pressure to it, thinking the bleeding would stop. It would not stop gushing blood! I went to the ER and they applied a little piece of foam that caused it to clot instantly. I have the scar to this day.
Good luck, I hope everything turns out well.

apply steady pressure with a clean preferably sanitized gauze and see a doc. If it stops bleeding and is just skin ripped, then clean it very well with betadine and bandage.

Apply pressure to the part you hit then you can apply peroxide, put neosporin, and a bandage. But don't let the cut get wet or it'll burn.

If you've been trying to stop the bleeding for hours, go to the ER. You may need stitches.

The best thin to do is apply pressure to the wound with a clean cloth. If this doesn't work, go to the hospital.

Put direct pressure on it. Do not keep taking the bandage off to look at it. If the cut is deep you may need sutures.
