If people really did evolve from monkeys, then why didn't all monkeys evolve into people? If Natural Selection (survival of fittest) is true, shouldn't all monkeys be extinct or evolved into humans?

If evolution is true, why are there still monkeys?

Wow, I'm amazed no one's ever thought of this before!!

Puts things into perspective, doesn't it?

First of all, we did not evolve from monkeys. We and monkeys share a common ancestor, which is not the same thing. We are more like cousins than parent-child.

Monkeys have evolved from that common ancestor at the same time that humans have evolved. They just have evolved in a different direction. Since they live in forests where the ability to move quickly through trees is a significant advantage, their path of evolution makes perfect sense. Humans, on the other hand, have no real need for a tail which would allow them to swing from trees because they don't live in jungles.

We do, however, have a vestigial tail bone that shows that our ancestors had tails.

WOW what a genius .....lol
First of all this question has been asked and answered thousands of times already.
Next, go do some actual reading about evolution instead of looking at Pat Robertsons website or some such nonsense. Evolution has NEVER stated that people evolved directly from monkeys. I'll leave it up to your reading to discover what evolution actually states about the subject.
And finally, your perspective is extremely lacking in regards to science. You just stick with your faerie tales about a sky daddy. It seems to be about all your intellect can handle.

humans did not come from monkeys, you may have though
Chimpanzees are still evolving as are most humans.
The simple fact is that change in the gene pool over time in any species is completely unavoidable. This results in a slow continuing evolution of that species. Continued inbreeding has leaad to some very disease prown humans in the south a case of devolution. You can go back as well as forward.

Maybe we are just one species of monkey...

Ever heard of different breeds of dogs?

A new hot dog now is the labradoodle...a cross between a labrador retriever and a poodle....]

This labradoodle has evolved into a new breed of dog that is hypoallergenic, does not shed as much, and has the intelligence of both dogs.....anyway, the original labrador and poodle still exist...eventhough a new breed has evolved.

Similar possibly with monkeys...we evolved as a new species...but, our ancestors through another blood line possible remained the same.

BTW, I am a Christian and don't necessarily believe in evolution...but, don't rule it out as a matter in which God may have created humankind.

Yes because I'm sure you didn't just read that somewhere O.o

Why didn't all monkeys evolve into humans? I don't know. I don't have all the answers because i'm no scientist or theologist, but i'm sure religion does. I can only speculate it could be through genetic mutations that occured quicker in some sub-species of ape than others.

*is reminded of the Fairly Odd Parents episode where Timmy goes in the Internet and monkey goes "Brian, it seems the humans have discovered our secret city for super advanced apes..." "Get off my back Bruce!"*... cartoons do have logic somewhere haha.

People did not evolve from monkeys - humans and apes share a common ancestor. Read up on the subject, and spare yourself the embarrass of having asked a stupid question.

One- Ever thought of this- Where'd God come from?

Two- Things evolve at different rates- they evolve as they need to. Do you not notice that some human beings are smarter and more developed than other human beings?

Three- Why don't you quit being so self-righteous and for once attempt to let someone live their own life and believe in their own ideas, rather then try to persuade them to believe in your imaginary friend whom you've never met, seen, or talked to in your entire life? All that happened was you heard the story from your parents or church or whatever and automatically believed it because you're naive.

Hee hee hee, you're so ignorant. I shall take the time to enlighten you.

We did not evolve from monkeys: humans and monkeys, apes & chimps - we all evolved from a COMMON ancestor.

Like a big tree branch that grows new branches, all the branches came from a common branch but they were never the exact same branch.

Too many branches! Wah!

If you are true, why do your cousins still exist? Didn't you kill them all off so you are the only survivor to carry on your genes?

Oh, wait... that is a creationist stance. You see, just because some species branches off from another does not mean they kill off all nearby relatives.

Go read a book that does not say "Holy Bible" on the cover. You will find that science has discovered a lot since the bronze age, when your textbook was written.

People didn't evolve from monkeys, we evolved from a common ancestor. You are just making your fellow Christians/Mormons look bad.
