When someone says "You're so sweet"?

O.K Well here's the scenario (and what I did);
Girl:...and he said he could find someone much better...

Me:He doesn't know what he's talking about, you're the best there is.

Girl:You're so sweet, you know that?

Me:*akward feeling*Yeah, heh.


What are you supposed to say when someone says "You're so sweet"? It just feels akward.
And while I'm at it, what do you say when someone says "You smell good". Should you just say, "You do too" or something?

just laugh and say thank you and return a compliment

when girls say you smell good that is like way good compliment. way to go buddy!! so anyway, just say thanks and be polite, you can make a joke if you feel comfortable but you need to be careful to not sound to cocky or whatever. good luck!!

Maybe the girl just thinks you're a good friend.
And regarding "good smell", well they just mean that: that you smell good. Just say "thank you", unless you get that weird feeling that they're hitting on you. In that case just say thank you too and go for the nearest door.

and if someone says you smell good. say thanks.
dont say "you do too" cause what if they dont? are you going to smell them, cause how else would you know? you dont want to lie now, or make it an awkward situation where you guys are smelling eachother...

usually, when you hear your so sweet, it is a really really good thing. most girls love sweet guys. and just take it as a complement and be like, no, you are or something like that.
