find calorie/fitness calculator on the net, enter all your stats and it will tell you how many calories you need a day to maintain, take off 300-400cal off that number and thats how much you need to lose.
eat 5-6 small meals a day (eat every 2-3 hours)
5-8 servings of fruit and veggies a day
8 glasses of water
have complex carbs for breakfast - they give you energy
have lean meat (protein) for dinner - repairs muscle
cardio exercise 4-6 times a week for 30-50min, light weight training
dont consume foods that are made of white flour (white bread, cakes, past etc.), sugar loaded foods (cookies, icecream, candy etc) and nothing fried, oily.
ofcourse you can spoil yourself once in a while with a little treat:)

being a driver, will i,m sorry to say, will give you a bit of a spare, and your age also helps, please don,t be offended, men do start to gain round their middle at mid age,if you don,t have any back problems, lay flat on the floor on your back, with your hands straight down your sides, lift left leg, nice and slow, and straight,so your body is in an "L" position, lower nice an slow,do the same with right leg,do ten times each to start with for a week, then do both legs together, take a deep breath and hold your tummy in,when you lift your legs, breath out when you lower legs,it does work believe me,not over night nothing does, but you have to watch what you eat to,lots of drivers have fruit with them,if not fruit, almonds, have sandwhiches by all means, with brown bread,a good spread, not butter, and you will see results after 2-3wks,only do the exercises, every other night, you will strain the muscles, doing it every night, you lose more weight ,doing it gradually.you will get rid of it.

If you have started to gain weight and can honestly say that you are not eating more than usual, then you should ask your doctor to check your thyroid. Bread and other foods with wheat in them are known to cause weight gain around the abdomen. Cut them out for a few weeks and see if it makes a difference.

your metabolism is slowing down with age. stay away from fried foods, beer, and sugary foods. try to get some exercise every day, since you sit a lot at work.

RUN MAN!!! Get out there and run, 30 mins a day...
Change one thing in your diet, you don't need to do anything drastic, just cut out something like your biscuit when you're having a cup of tea, you'll soon shift it. good luck.
