its very normal. Some kids (like my son) walk as early as 8-9 months, others (like my nephew) wait until well after 1 yr. If he's still not walking by 18 mo you may want to get him checked out to make sure he is developing properly

If he is crawling on all fours there is absolutely nothing to worry about. If he's still not walking by 15 months, it's not the end of the world, but I'd have him checked out just to be sure.
If he's crawling in an odd way, such as scooting on his butt, dragging on one side, etc., then I say consult with the pediatrician. Chances are he's fine, but unusual crawling pattern can sometimes signal something is not quite right (though not necessarily seriously wrong!). If this is the case, you might be given some exercises to "teach" your baby how to crawl. Developmentally-speaking, it is more important to crawl than to walk early. In fact, some babies that learn to walk very early should do there exercises as well, because crawling is so important to brain developement.

Many children are not walking by age one. If he is still showing no interest in cruising or taking first steps by 14 or 15 months, that might be the time for some concern, but 12 months is still quite young for worrying about walking. Don't worry!

As long as he can pull himself up to a standing position, you don't need to worry. Many kids will do just that at 12 months - it's a normal variant. It would be worrisome if he wasn't walking by 15 months.
And he probably doesn't care that other kids are walking and he can't yet; 12 month-olds usually aren't prone to peer pressure.

Hi first of all every kid is different ,do not go by what other child yu will lose some and gain some.
i have three boys and they all wslk at different ages.
If he is healthy and has not known problems give him time meanwhile try the folloween ti worke for me.
get him one of those things that are like lawn mowers or pushing cart or something he could hold unto it. he will feel secure and ofcourse he will try to make move by pushign it.
walk with him every day at the same time. my dad walked my son for unly 8 days and after that he was on his own. try to have somebody else do it , he knows you will pick him up after all the drama and the crying. he's playing you.
let him take his time and enjoy him now that he is a baby because once he starst waking you will have him every place you go and eventualy HE WILL NOT WANT YOU TO HOLD HIM BECAUSE HE IS GOING TO BE A BIG BOYYYY..
good luck and God bless

quitt comparing your child to others, there is a group of people out there that want you to worry about everything. I have 4 children, they all didnt walk until they were at least 15mos. If he cries pick him up, hes a baby, let him be this, he will grow up soon enough. All your baby really needs right now is his mommy. My daughter didnt wanna stand on my lap one day at the doctors office, and from that day on they wanted to keep doing x-rays on her hips, they thought she might have cerebral palsy, I finally had to put a stop to all of this, shes a healthy 10 yr.old today. who cares whos baby walks first or talks first! or poops in their pottys first, somehow they all get it together on graduation day, I have never seen a kid crawl up on stage with a diaper on on graduation day, have you ? so stop worrying just love him and let him be his own person.

All children will walk when they're ready, he is obviously not ready yet. There is nothing wrong with him, if he's standing and holding onto things then it's just a matter of time before he starts walking. Do you walk with him meaning hold his arms and teach him, motivate him, don't force him though, when he's ready he'll start.

Look at how he positions his feet. My daughter was that way. She pointed her toes out and that didn't allow her to feel so sturdy so she didn't walk until a whole month after her birthday, but after her first step I sware she was a pro.
Hang in there kids vary from 9 month - 15 months. So you have a few minutes before you need to get concerned. He doesn't feel secure enough, don't rush him he will walk and you will then wish he couldn't once again.
Good luck.

Apparently the same part of the brain is used for walking and talking. My first child talked non stop from being very young, but didn't walk until he was 15months. My daughter talked less but walked before she was 1. All children are different and achieve different milestones at different stages.

Sounds perfectly normal! My daughter didn't actually crawl til 11 months . . . and she didn't walk indenpendently til 14 months. She has a friend in class who didn't walk til 16 months! You son will get going when he is comfortable . . . don't push him or it may delay it even more!!
