No... I walk the same every day, my doctor told me if my legs start to hurt cut back on the distance of the walks.

Make sure, you have good walking shoes.

Well I think that you should work your way up. If your gonna walk three times a week, then at first walk one mile. Then work your way up to two, then three and so on. Once you feel that your ready, then do five miles. But before you walk, make sure that you do stretches so you don't pull a muscle.

I dont know about walking but I am 29 about 220lbs very fit and I run about 4 miles every day including weekends so I you could probably walk more than that and be fine. the key to any exercise is to drink plenty of water and stay away from sports drinks because they have sugar in them and it will dehydrate you faster

Your fine and getting healthier!
Its not uncommon for a marathon runner to run 10+ miles per day.
As a rule of thumb though don't focus so much on walking that it starts to interfere with your life.
